You have got to try this Wendy’s inspired copycat chocolate frosty! Its like drinking ice cream. Yum!

I love ice cream.  Unfortunately, it is loaded with sugar. Well, usually. Then I stumbled upon something amazing…

THIS low carb keto chocolate frosty recipe. I was a little sceptical at first (when you see the ingredients, you will know what I mean), but it far surpassed my expectations! It was so good, I may or may not have eaten all 2 servings.

This frosty is rich, decadent, and guaranteed to satisfy that chocolate craving! It is also sugar-free and gluten-free – a family-friendly treat that both kids and adults can enjoy. This Chocolate Frosty (just like Wendy’s) is a quick and easy low carb dessert recipe, its like a super thick shake, but better!

The Frosty is Wendy’s famous frozen dessert. It’s something between a milkshake and a soft-serve ice cream in consistency. The founder of the fast-food chain Wendy’s wanted a dessert with a light chocolate flavor as he was concerned that full-on chocolate would be too overwhelming of a flavor to be served with burgers.

I have to admit, I have a weak spot for fast food! I’m not proud of it. It’s such unhealthy food, usually filled with cheap vegetable oils, high in carbs, and a variety of unpronounceable ingredients. Wendy’s Chocolate Frosty is no exception. It’s simply delicious, but simply doesn’t work with a healthy eating plan or lifestyle.

What are the ingredients of a chocolate Frosty? As so often in fast food, the ingredients are little bit of a nightmare. This is what I found on Wendy’s website:

Milk, Sugar, Corn Syrup, Cream, Whey, Nonfat Dry Milk, Cocoa (Processed With Alkali), Guar Gum, Mono And Diglycerides, Cellulose Gum, Natural Vanilla Flavor, Carrageenan, Calcium Sulfate, Sodium Citrate, Dextrose, Vitamin A Palmitate.

A Classic Chocolate Frosty has 590 calories, 17 grams of protein, and a whopping 81 grams of sugar.

Yep. Not only is it filled with sugar, it also contains corn syrup, stabilizers, and emulsifiers. But as you can see, it also contains several ingredients that we can use to create our own, lower-carb Frosty, like cream, milk, cocoa, and vanilla.

We can recreate a Copycat Wendy’s Chocolate Frosty Recipe so easily that is – low carb, dairy free has only 5 carbs and ready in 5 minutes! Paleo, gluten free, grain free, refined sugar free, vegan, clean eating, real food. Yesssss!

My Personal Experience – The first time I made this frosty, I was amazed at how easy it was to create something so decadent with just a few simple ingredients. It reminded me of my favorite childhood frozen treats but without the sugar rush. Now, it’s my go-to dessert whenever I’m craving something sweet yet healthy. My family loves it too, and it’s always a hit at gatherings. Trust me, once you try this frosty, it’ll become a staple in your recipe collection.

What are some variations to this recipe? This recipe is so versatile that you can create many flavors out of it. You can add a little bit of instant coffee to get a mocha-flavored frosty or a little bit of sugar-free caramel syrup for another layer of flavor. You can also add peanut butter, frozen cherries or peppermint extract for a perfect pairing.

I prefer this made with full fat coconut milk (or even coconut cream) in a can. It has the most fat, which is what you love about ice cream and a Wendy’s Frosty. In a pinch, you can for sure substitute almond milk or your other favorite non-dairy milk. Or, if you are ok to digest dairy, heavy cream would be delicious too.

Our copycat recipe has tons of healthy protein and fats and amazing macros (protein, carbs, fats) balance. Such a healthy and satisfying dessert. It’s super thick, sweet, vanillary and chocolatey. And guilt free!

You have to try my Wendy’s Copycat healthy frosty recipe. It tastes just like the real thing without all the questionable ingredients. There’s nothing quite as satisfying as a creamy, frosty  as an any time treat. This recipe is perfect for curbing those sweet cravings without compromising your health goals.

Its rich, chocolatey flavor and silky texture make it an indulgence you can feel good about. Whether you are looking for a quick dessert, a post-dinner treat, or a snack to cool you down, this frosty checks all the boxes. Plus, it’s so easy to make, you will find yourself whipping it up again and again!

Servings 2

Ingredients

  • 1 banana, sliced, frozen
  • 1 13.5 oz can coconut cream, full fat (solid part only) *see note below
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk or cream
  • 1 scoop protein or collagen peptides powder
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Note: Place the can of coconut cream or milk in the fridge or freezer for at least 1-2 hours before making these frosty's to allow coconut cream to separate.
When you are ready to make your frosty, open chilled can and scoop out the cream that has separated and set hard on the top. Save the remaining coconut water to use in a smoothie, drink, or discard. I put in on my dogs dinner and they love it.
Scoop the hardened cream into a medium cold metal bowl, and with your hand mixer and cold beaters, beat the cream just until it forms peaks.
Slowly pour in the coconut milk, and gently stir it into the cream. Add the protein powder, honey, cocoa powder and vanilla extract. Beat until fully combined.
Pour into two tall glasses, and eat immediately or chill in the freezer for 1 hour before serving. I like to stir the shakes twice during the time they are in the freezer.
