Tahini Chocolate Healing Gummy

These tahini chocolate gummies are like a snack version of hot chocolate drink.
Filled with gut healing, bone strengthening ingredients and made in under 5 minutes they are the perfect quick, easy and healthy snack recipe.
These creamy chocolate gummies sit somewhere between dessert and snack and one of the superstar ingredients is tahini, aka sesame paste - a nutritional powerhouse. Tahini contains all the essential amino acids, making it a high quality protein, plus it is rich in lecithin, vitamin E and calcium.
It is easily digestible because its high alkaline mineral content and because of its non-acid nature, Tahini is an ideal protein source for people with weak digestive systems, invalids and young children, and is an excellent source of quick energy for active people and athletes.
Tahini (aka liquid gold) is made from toasted ground hulled sesame seeds. It's smooth, nutty and rich, with a slightly bitter finish and an mouthfeel similar to almond or peanut butter.
Why eat gummies?
First of all its important to be specific; when eating gut-healing gummies we are talking about those made with grass-fed gelatin which offers a really easy food as medicine for both adults and children, and is such an easy and fun snack to make.
Grass-fed gelatin forms a strong part of almost any traditional diet, and while it might be hard to add its in its traditional form daily (like with bone broth or marrow) it is easy to supplement your diet with gummies. Especially if they are tahini chocolate flavoured, right?
In our house we use gummies as a vehicle to sneak in other amazing nutrients - this could be whole food vitamin C, organ powders (to get, for example, zinc and iron), immune supportive herbs or whatever else we are needing in that season of our lives.
Even without these additions though, grass-fed gelatin contains 3 important amino acids that support the healing of the gut, which if compromised can be the underlying cause of many issues within the body but particularly allergies, intolerances, skin complaints and autoimmune disorders.
These homemade gut healing gummies are so simple to make, and are full of nutrients to support your gut and reduce inflammation in your body. They are packed with gelatin and collagen, powerful amino acids for full body wellness.
Great for the whole family. Plus - kids just love them.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup coconut milk or milk of choice
  • 2 tablespoons tahini (sesame seed) paste
  • 2 tablespoons grass-fed gelatin
  • 1/4 cup cocoa or cacao powder OR hot chocolate mix of choice
  • 1-2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Add milk to a small saucepan and sprinkle with the gelatin powder. Allow to stand for 5 minutes, giving time for gelatin to bloom and soak up the liquid. This is an important step to prevent clumps.
Add the remaining ingredients and transfer to the stove top over low-medium heat. Use a whisk to stir throughout, heating to a gentle simmer or until the gelatin has completely dissolved.
Then turn off the heat and let the mixture cool before pouring into silicone moulds or a lined dish or pan.
Note; it is best to lay a silicone tray on top of a baking tray before pouring the liquid in, for easy transfer to the fridge.
Set in the fridge for 3-4 hours, or until firm. Pop out of moulds or cut into small squares.
Store: Transfer to an airtight container in the fridge (up to 5 days) or freezer (up to 3 months).
Note; while you can freeze these gummies they are better stored in the fridge. Gummies will melt at room temperature, especially on warm days so they are not lunchbox friendly.
