Strawberry Nice Cream With Ginger Berry Sauce

This luscious strawberry nice cream is a wonderful healthy ice cream alternative. And it takes just minutes to whip up this easy healthy dessert in a food processor if you freeze the fruit ahead.
While you'll get the best flavor from fresh berries, if you don't have them on hand, feel free to use store-bought frozen fruit in this nice cream recipe.
What is Nice Cream?
It’s called ‘nice cream’ rather than ice cream, just to differentiate the two. Nice cream is a super easy, take on traditional ice cream, yet made very differently.
You don’t need one of those special ice cream churning machines, you simply use frozen bananas or other fruit, a splash of milk and some flavourings – that’s it!
It sounds too good to be true doesn’t it? Ice-cream just out of bananas – yeah right! About this little concoction, I cannot hold back. It IS amazing. You will need to keep going back and trying it and saying – that can’t be right.
It tastes like ice-cream and it is so damn good! This is definitely one for the recipe bible. You will be in awe of the creamy, fruitful deliciousness before your spoon even begins to melt into the bowl.
You can satisfy an ice cream craving guilt-free with this “nice cream“! Seems so simple, that it feels like you are cheating a bit…but to be honest – it’s delectable stuff. And let’s face it, why make it complicated when something this simple can taste insanely delightful!
Once you start making nice creams, you will stop buying store bought ice creams, the creaminess it has is nothing less than any ice cream and the plus point is, it is absolutely healthy!
Full of nutrition and fruits, this good for you nice cream is another way of eating more fruit.
Course Dessert, Snack

  • 2 bananas, peeled., sliced, frozen
  • 2 cups strawberries, frozen
  • Splash of milk of choice

Ginger Berry Sauce

  • 2 cups berries, fresh or frozen
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice or water
  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
  • 1 inch nub fresh ginger root, minced or finely chopped

Optional Toppings

  • Whipped coconut cream, store bought or recipe link in notes below
  • Chopped nuts or fresh fruit
  • Coconut shreds

Nice Cream

  • Let the bananas and strawberries thaw a bit (just 5 minutes or so), which will make them slightly easier to blend, then throw them along with the milk into a food processor or high speed blender.
Start blending on its lowest speed, then quickly increase to the highest speed, using the tamper to press ingredients toward the blades. Blend for 30 to 45 seconds or until smooth and creamy.
You can eat the nice cream straight out of the blender if you like the soft-serve texture. For a firmer texture, spoon the mixture into a dish and set it in the freezer for about 30 minutes until it firms up.
Then just scoop, top with the berry ginger sauce, serve and enjoy!
If frozen, allow to thaw for 20 minutes to let it soften before scooping.

Ginger Berry Sauce

  • In a small pot combine the strawberries, water, ginger and honey over low-medium heat. Mash the berries a little and let the mixture gently simmer for a few minutes until it thickens.
Remove from the heat and place in the fridge to further thicken until ready to serve over the nice cream.
