It’s super simple to turn this fuss-free spread into an health bomb by adding a scoop or two of flax butter or even a scoop of tahini (sesame seed butter). These superfoods are protein-rich, easy to digest, and an effortless way to incorporate them into your daily routine.

I also love that this recipe tastes rich without being overly sweet. You can feel good about spreading lashings on top of toast topped with berries or chia seed jam for breakfast or between 2 slices of bread for lunch. Your kids and your tummy with thank you!

You can forget any other chocolate spreads you have had in the past. This chocolate peanut butter spread is the best!

It’s a pure chocolate and nut taste, slightly sweetened (even without an added sweetener) and so creamy. Just 1-2 teaspoons, and you are in heaven. I’ve never tasted anything better in a chocolate spread.

Plus, it’s healthy! Made with pure ingredients like dark chocolate (no added sugar), quality natural nut butter, a bit of coconut oil, and a touch of vanilla extract.

It’s not low in calories – no nut butter is – but it’s definitely lower in calories than store-bought spreads. And its way better for you without the ton of other unhealthy ingredients likely to be in something off the supermarket shelf.

Homemade is ALWAYS so much better than the sugar loaded store bought one!

You probably won’t eat more than 1-2 tablespoons at a time, though you might want to because it’s so good!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup peanut or any nut/seed butter (or a mix)
  • 1/2 cup chocolate bar chopped, or chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Sweetener of choice (only if needed and to taste, honey, maple syrup, stevia or xylitol)

Instructions

  • Place chocolate chips and coconut oil in medium dish and microwave at 50% power with 20 second bursts stirring between each one until melted and smooth.
Or use double boiler method - (pot of boiling water with a bowl resting on top) melt the chocolate chips and the coconut oil together.
Once melted, add the peanut butter, vanilla extract and sweetener if using, to taste. Mix very thoroughly.
Pour the chocolate peanut spread into ajar and let it cool, and set for several hours before serving.
Store at room temperature. Keeping the spread in the fridge will cause it to harden, so let it come to room temperature before serving.
Note: This spread is quite thick, so if you would like to thin it out a bit, add 2 tablespoons of any milk and mix everything together.
