Blue Moon Nice Cream

This naturally dyed blue ice cream is the most scoopable, silky smooth, no icy, soft ice-cream you will ever try. Best of all, you won't need an ice cream maker!
Blue Spirulina powder has been added to give a pretty vibrant blue effect.
Blue Spirulina is the magic ingredient that makes any food look Instagramable (#trendy). This intense deep blue pigment is known as phycocyanin and is extracted from spirulina, a well-known antioxidant superfood.
It is freeze dried to preserve its natural colour and nutrients. You can get creative and add this beautiful nature product to literally anything for a heavenly nutritional boost and some epic blue instaworthy pictures!
You can add blue spirulina to water, juices,smoothies, breakfast food, baked food, sweets, yoghurts, cereals or any other foods.
For light blue shades, use just a pinch and for amore brilliant blue, use up to the full teaspoon.
To explain what Blue Spirulina is:
Blue Spirulina (Phycocyanin) is a blue pigment derived from blue-green algae. It's rich in protein, vitamins, minerals, iron, carotenoids and antioxidants that may help protect cells from damage.

What is Nice Cream you may be saying to yourself?
Nice cream is a sugar-free dessert made by blitzing pieces of frozen fruit in a food processor or high-speed blender. The whole-food ice cream is rich, creamy, and luscious enough for a special occasion (birthday party, anyone?) yet light and easy enough for an anytime indulgence.
It’s called ‘nice cream’ rather than ice cream, just to differentiate the two. Nice cream is a super easy, take on traditional ice cream, yet made very differently.
You don’t need one of those special ice cream churning machines, you simply use frozen bananas, a splash of milk and some flavourings – that’s it!
It sounds too good to be true doesn’t it? Ice-cream just out of bananas – yeah right! About this little concoction, I cannot hold back. It IS amazing. You will need to keep going back and trying it and saying– that can’t be right.
It tastes like ice-cream and it is so damn good! This is definitely one for the recipe bible. You will be in awe of the creamy, fruitful deliciousness before your spoon even begins to melt into the bowl.
You can satisfy an ice cream craving guilt-free with this “nice cream“! Seems so simple, that it feels like you are cheating a bit…but to be honest – it’s delectable stuff. And let’s face it, why make it complicated when something this simple can taste insanely delightful!
Once you start making nice creams, you will stop buying store bought ice creams, the creaminess it has is nothing less than any ice cream and the plus point is, it is absolutely healthy!
Full of nutrition and fruits, here is another way of eating more good stuff.

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe bananas, peeled and sliced, frozen
  • 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon blue spirulina powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • splash of milk of choice

Instructions

  • Let the bananas thaw a bit (just 5 minutes or so),which will make them slightly easier to blend, then throw them along with the milk, honey, vanilla extract and blue spirulina powder into a food processor or high speed blender.
    Start blending on its lowest speed, then quickly increase to the highest speed, using the tamper to press ingredients toward the blades. Blend for 30 to 45 seconds or until smooth and creamy. Add a splash more milk if needed to get it blending.
    You can eat the nice cream straight out of the blender if you like the soft-serve texture. For a firmer texture, spoon the mixture into a dish and set it in the freezer for about 30 minutes until it firms up. Then just scoop, serve, and enjoy!
    Serve straight away or freeze for later. If frozen, allow to thaw for 15 minutes to let it soften before scooping.
