Savory Avocado Smoothie Bowl
This smoothie bowl has everything you’d want in a regular salad and more, packed with plenty of kale and heart-healthy avocado. Citrus and sweetness, plus seeds and nuts for protein and fiber, make this bowl great for any time of day.
1 orange, peeled, chopped
1 avocado, peeled, pitted, chopped, reserve half for garnish
2 cups kale
1/4 cup almonds
2 tablespoons hemp seeds
1 tablespoon flax seeds
6 pitted dates
Place all ingredients into a blender and blend for 60 seconds, using the tamper to press ingredients toward the blades.
Scoop smoothie into serving bowls, topping with the remaining 1/2 avocado diced up, and with extra seeds, nuts and coconut as desired.
Why adding, not eliminating, food is key to a healthy diet
If you don’t want to change the way you eat, then ADD….
Add the superfoods that will change the way you eat, for you; and add them to the way you are currently eating. We call this the Superfood Eating “Initial Approach” to change or making the “Switch” to healthy eating.
The whole idea of an addition diet is to focus on adding foods into your diet that ‘contribute’ to your health balance, and by doing so, you automatically ‘crowd out’ the ones that are ‘subtracting’ from your health balance
You see there is one thing that a nutrient rich super food will do that no other food in the food chain can do; they supply massive amounts of micronutrients that nourish and detoxify your body.
And here’s what happens when you begin adding them into your current eating style…
- Your food preferences change.
- Your body starts functioning better,
- You get satisfied faster, and
- If you add enough of them in ways you enjoy, you’ll start to see your weight and health change naturally. When this happens you’ll then be super motivated to take nutrition and lifestyle changes to a whole new level.
So I say let’s do away with Elimination Diets and opt instead for an ADDITION challenge. It’s really quite simple, and also very enjoyable.
Let’s examine the benefits of adopting the Addition mindset instead of the typical Elimination…
Benefits of Adding instead of Eliminating
It’s mostly a psychological shift because instead of thinking about the things you “can’t” have, you instead focus on what you CAN.
Simple, but important and powerful.
Not only that, but by focusing on the foods you’ll add to your diet you’ll increase the variety of your meals as well. This is a powerful strategy for people who tend to binge eat or follow obsessive eating patterns.
Furthermore, by adding new foods or foods you don’t eat very often to your meals, you may discover some new favourites. Either way you look at it, an Addition challenge is a win-win.
Your 30 Day ADDITION Guide
All you need to do is come up with a list of foods or ingredients you are going to ADD to your diet over the next 30 days.
To ensure you succeed in this fun challenge, I suggest making a list of the foods/ingredients you are going to add to your meals over the next 30 days. Then find some recipes you can make with those ingredients or make sure you have a plan to include them in your meals.
You can do this with breakfast, lunch, dinner, and even snacks and desserts. The possibilities are endless.
So, are YOU up to the challenge?
