If chocolate and peanut butter are your weakness, this Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Bark is about to become one of your favorite healthy treats. Rich chocolate, creamy peanut butter, a satisfying protein boost, and a little crunch come together in a simple freezer-friendly recipe that feels far more indulgent than it actually is.
At Blended Bites, we believe healthy eating is not about taking away the foods you love. It is about adding more nourishing ingredients so your treats can work harder for you. This protein bark is a perfect example. You still get the chocolate-and-peanut-butter combination that makes dessert so irresistible, but you are also adding protein and healthy fats to create a more satisfying snack.
And perhaps the best part? There is no baking involved.
Why You Will Love Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Bark
Traditional chocolate bark is delicious, but it is usually little more than chocolate and toppings. There is nothing wrong with enjoying that occasionally, but adding protein gives this version a little more staying power.
Protein is an important nutrient for maintaining and repairing muscle tissue, and it also helps contribute to feelings of fullness. That is why we love incorporating protein powder into snacks and desserts at Blended Bites.
Here, the protein is combined with creamy peanut butter and chocolate to create a treat that is rich, satisfying, and incredibly easy to make. It is perfect for those moments when you want something sweet after dinner, need a quick afternoon snack, or simply want a little chocolate treat waiting for you in the freezer.
The Peanut Butter Protein Layer
Now for the good stuff!
A combination of natural peanut butter and protein powder creates a creamy protein-rich layer and a touch of maple syrup adds sweetness, while vanilla and sea salt round out the flavors.
The peanut butter layer does not need to be perfectly smooth or uniform. So don’t worry if it looks a little rustic. That is part of the charm of homemade bark!
The Chocolate Swirl
Melting the chocolate with a small amount of coconut oil helps create a smooth, glossy chocolate swirl that freezes beautifully and when you swirl it into the peanut butter layer it gives the bark that satisfying snap when you break it into pieces.
You can use dark chocolate for a richer, more intense flavor or choose a lower-sugar chocolate if that better suits your preferences.
Make It Your Own
This recipe is incredibly easy to customize.
Want extra crunch? Add chopped peanuts.
Love coconut? Sprinkle some unsweetened shredded coconut over the top.
Want even more chocolate? Add cacao nibs or mini chocolate chips.
You could also add chopped almonds, pumpkin seeds, freeze-dried berries, or a sprinkle of flaky sea salt.
If you are using a different nut or seed butter, simply substitute almond, cashew, or sunflower seed butter. Sunbutter makes a particularly good nut-free option.
A Perfect Freezer Treat
Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Bark is ideal for keeping in the freezer because you can break off exactly as much as you want whenever a craving strikes.
Unlike a complicated dessert that needs to be thawed or assembled, this bark is ready to eat almost immediately. Let it sit for a minute or two if you prefer a slightly softer texture.
Make a batch on the weekend and you will have a delicious homemade snack ready for the week ahead.
This is what healthy snacking should be about: simple, satisfying, and genuinely delicious.
No deprivation. No boring “diet food.” Just chocolate, peanut butter, and protein coming together to create a treat your taste buds – and your body – can appreciate. ❄️
I love that dessert barks are so easy to make, require minimal cleanup, and swap out heavy refined sugars for nutrient-rich alternatives. Below are three variations: a protein-packed yogurt base, an antioxidant-rich dark chocolate base, and a viral fruit and nut base.
