Chocolate Coconut Butter Protein Cups

Rich, Creamy & Better Than Candy (Blended Bites Style)

If you are a fan of chocolate and coconut, these Chocolate Coconut Butter Protein Cups are about to earn a permanent spot in your fridge or freezer. Featuring a rich chocolate protein base topped with a creamy coconut butter layer, they are like a healthier cross between a chocolate truffle, a coconut cream dessert, and a protein-packed candy cup.

They are rich, satisfying, naturally sweet, and loaded with ingredients that nourish your body while still tasting completely indulgent.

This is exactly what Blended Bites is all about – creating treats that don’t feel like “healthy food.” Instead, they taste like something you would happily order from a dessert café while secretly delivering protein, healthy fats, and wholesome ingredients.

The beauty of these cups lies in the contrast between the two layers. The bottom layer is rich and chocolatey, made with protein powder, cacao, and nut butter to create a fudgy texture that feels remarkably similar to brownie batter. It’s dense, satisfying, and packed with deep chocolate flavour.

The top layer is where the magic happens.

Made with creamy coconut butter, it creates a silky, melt-in-your-mouth topping that tastes like coconut cream frosting. The naturally sweet, tropical flavour pairs perfectly with the rich chocolate beneath it, creating a flavour combination that feels luxurious and decadent.

Chocolate and coconut have long been one of the world’s favourite flavour pairings for good reason. The richness of chocolate balances beautifully with the light sweetness of coconut, creating a dessert that feels both indulgent and refreshing at the same time.

But these cups offer more than great flavour.

One of the key ingredients is protein powder, which helps transform these treats into something far more satisfying than traditional candy. Protein supports muscle recovery, helps promote fullness, and contributes to more stable energy levels throughout the day.

Many sweet treats rely heavily on sugar, creating a quick burst of energy followed by a crash. By including protein and healthy fats, these cups provide a much more balanced experience. They satisfy cravings while helping you stay fuller for longer.

The coconut butter contributes more than just flavour too. Made from pure coconut flesh, it contains healthy fats and a naturally creamy texture that makes these cups feel incredibly indulgent. Unlike coconut oil, coconut butter includes the fibre from the coconut meat, adding richness and body to the recipe.

And in true Blended Bites style, this recipe focuses on adding nourishment rather than restricting enjoyment. You don’t have to give up chocolate or desserts. You simply find ways to make them work harder for your body while still delivering incredible flavour.

Another reason these cups are such a winner is their simplicity. There is no baking involved, making them perfect for busy schedules. A few minutes of mixing, layering, and chilling is all it takes to create a dessert-worthy snack. They are also perfect for meal prep. Make a batch and keep them chilled for those moments when cravings strike. Having nourishing treats readily available often makes healthy eating much easier and far more enjoyable.

The texture is what truly sets these apart. The chocolate layer is soft and fudgy, while the coconut layer is smooth, creamy, and almost cheesecake-like. Together they create a treat that feels far more decadent than the ingredient list suggests.

Want to take them to the next level? Sprinkle toasted coconut on top, drizzle with dark chocolate, or add a pinch of flaky sea salt for a gourmet finish.

These Chocolate Coconut Butter Protein Cups prove that healthy treats can be rich, satisfying, and absolutely crave-worthy. They deliver all the pleasure of a candy cup while providing protein and wholesome ingredients your body will appreciate.

Because dessert should never feel like a compromise. ✨

  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup or honey
  • 1-2 tablespoons milk of choice
  • Pinch of sea salt

  • 1/2 cup coconut butter, softened
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil, melted
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Optional Toppings

  • Toasted shredded coconut
  • Dark chocolate drizzle

Instructions

  • Line a 12-cavity muffin tin with paper liners. Or use a silicon muffin pan.

Coconut Butter Layer

  • If your coconut butter is solid you can soften it so it mixes easier by placing the jar in some hot water for a few minutes or give it a couple of 10 second bursts in the microwave.
In a separate bowl, combine coconut butter, coconut oil, maple syrup, and vanilla until smooth.
Spoon the coconut mixture over the chocolate layer and smooth the tops.
    Add any optional toppings.
Refrigerate for 1–2 hours or freeze for 30 minutes until firm.
    Remove from liners and enjoy.
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week or freeze for up to 1 month.
