Ever found yourself rummaging through the kitchen, craving something sweet but not wanting to dive into a sugar-loaded snack?  Or if you are craving chocolate…After all, it happens to the best of us. But what if I promised you could have a lush, slightly tangy bowl of chocolatey goodness with just five minutes of effort? You will need a little more time to chill it to thicken it fully, and the hardest part is waiting for it to chill.

Well, have I got a treat for you! It’s called Whipped Chocolate Yogurt Protein Mousse, and it’s pretty much a game-changer in the world of desserts. Imagine the creamy goodness of Greek yogurt mixed with the rich, decadent flavor of chocolate. Sounds too good to be true, right? But it’s real, and it’s spectacular. Let’s take a closer look at what you will need to whip up this heavenly creation.

The two secret ingredients are, drumroll please, chocolate and Greek yogurt. That’s it. The chocolate serves as a thickener so you don’t need anything else to transform your creamy yogurt into a pudding.

I love this recipe because it’s a chocolate delivery system that allows me to savor a reasonable chunk of chocolate, spoonful by creamy spoonful. It is so ridiculously easy to make that even when I’m tired, stressed, or crazy busy, I can whip up a bowl of chocolate comfort. It’s also made with ingredients that are easy to keep on hand, and any leftover yogurt or chocolate (ha, leftover chocolate!) will not languish in the fridge.

As a Fitness Professional on-the-go, I’m all about snacks that will keep me energized throughout the day, taste amazing, and they need to be easy to prepare! And let me tell you, today’s Greek yogurt chocolate mousse? It ticks every box!

So, what makes this chocolate mousse so special? It’s all about the combination of creamy Greek yogurt, rich chocolate, and decadent cocoa powder. While traditional mousse recipes often call for cream, I decided to try my hand at a version made from Greek yogurt instead. Greek yogurt not only lends the perfect creamy texture but also packs nearly 20 grams of protein per cup, making this a satisfying and balanced dessert or snack!

It’s the dessert I “whip up” (ha!) when company is coming over and I want to make something quick and satisfying. I usually have all of the ingredients for this recipe on hand in my pantry and fridge, so there’s no special trip to the store needed for a dessert that still feels fancy.

Nutritional Benefits (Nutrition by Addition)

This recipe uses one of my favorite intuitive eating practices, nutrition by addition. It’s all about looking at what you can add onto your plate instead of focusing on what foods to cut out, a much more enjoyable and sustainable nutrition practice! I love using this feel good nutrition practice when developing recipes.

The “addition diet,” also known as the “add, not subtract” approach to dieting, is a method that focuses on incorporating nutrient-rich, wholesome foods into your meals and snacks rather than emphasizing what foods to eliminate or restrict.

This approach encourages a positive and sustainable relationship with food by adding fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, dairy, nuts, seeds, and other unprocessed ingredients to your diet.

The idea is that by filling your plate with nutritious options, there’s naturally less room for empty calories, which can lead to weight loss without the feeling of deprivation often associated with traditional diets. It’s about creating a balanced and satisfying diet that includes the foods you enjoy while meeting your nutritional needs.

Whether it’s adding some greens into a blueberry smoothie, mixing in cottage cheese to a make a protein-rich ice cream, or tossing in some cauliflower rice into shrimp and mango fried rice, I love finding ways to incorporate more nutrition into my day in ways that don’t sacrifice the enjoyment and satisfaction I find in food.

This whipped yogurt recipe fits perfectly into the “nutrition by addition”  plan.

Its a super health recipe – a chocolate lover’s dream – naturally sweetened with honey, rich and chocolatey to hit those cravings, and packed with protein per serving from the Greek yogurt and the protein powder!

The only potential challenge in making this easy pudding is being mindful of temperature. You need the warm melted chocolate to mix smoothly into the cool yogurt before it starts to harden and seize. Using the food processor makes this step super-fast and easy, although you can whisk it in a bowl instead if you’re quick.

It can also help to measure the yogurt and let it sit at room temperature for a while before adding the chocolate so it’s not so cold. When you add the hot melted chocolate, dump it into one spot, don’t drizzle it over the yogurt. Quickly get the lid on and process before the chocolate has time to cool. If you are using a bowl and whisk, get the chocolate in and get whisking right away.

If you are looking for a healthier spin-off of traditional mousse – this is it!

An easy healthy dessert recipe.
