Strawberry Pineapple Nice Cream

Spread the love

I love single-serve frozen desserts like homemade nice cream. This recipe combines pineapple, banana and strawberries for a tropical, sweet, and absolutely delicious strawberry dole whip!

This ‘healthified’ delicious soft serve perfectly replaces sugar and dairy-heavy ice cream with an all-natural treat made with frozen fruits, which means it’s packed with flavor without tons of calories or fat. Just blend everything, and in no time at all, you will have an impressive, creamy, soft-serve ice cream consistency.

Top it with extra fruits, chopped nuts, seeds, coconut or your toppings of choice, and dig in. Plus, there are several ways to adapt the flavor, whether you want more of a traditional pineapple dole whip or even swapping out the fruits further.

What is Dole Whip that has inspired this recipe?

Dole Whip is a frozen pineapple dessert (though there are now several flavors, including mango, raspberry, orange, and strawberry) that lies somewhere between soft-serve ice cream and sorbet. It was created by the company Dole and sold exclusively at Disneyland as far back as the 1980s.

Surprisingly, though, the top ingredients in the original Dole whip mix are sugar, dextrose, and several stabilizers, with less than 2% of pineapple juice flavoring. So basically, this fruity treat is (or at least was) primarily sugar, chemicals, additives, and plenty of stabilizers.

There are lots of great flavors of healthier ice cream available these days, but there’s also a really simple way to make a delicious frozen treat at home, without any extra sweeteners or other additives.

With just a few simple ingredients, you can make a dairy-free, refined sugar free ice cream that is a fun recipe that everyone loves. The best part is that it is nutritious and made with real food ingredients. All you need to make this recipe is a food processor, some frozen fruit and you are good to go.

When you want a quick treat that you can make in just a few minutes, try this incredible recipe. This is Nice Cream which is a term that has come to represent any fruit-based treat free from loads of sugar and artificial flavors,

It’s called ‘nice cream’ rather than ice cream, just to differentiate the two. Nice cream is a super easy, take on traditional ice cream, yet made very differently.

It sounds too good to be true doesn’t it? Ice-cream just out of bananas – yeah right! About this little concoction, I cannot hold back. It IS amazing. You will need to keep going back and trying it and saying – that can’t be right.

It tastes like ice-cream and it is so damn good! This is definitely one for the recipe bible. You will be in awe of the creamy, fruitful deliciousness before your spoon even begins to melt into the bowl.

You can satisfy an ice cream craving guilt-free with this “nice cream“! Seems so simple, that it feels like you are cheating a bit… but to be honest – it’s delectable stuff. And let’s face it, why make it complicated when something this simple can taste insanely delightful!

Once you start making nice creams, you will stop buying store bought ice creams, the creaminess it has is nothing less than any ice cream and the plus point is, it is absolutely healthy!

I’m a huge dessert lover, but I don’t always love how it makes me feel. A blood sugar crash, a stomach ache, and a headache are just a few side effects I’ve felt from overindulgent sugar-laden desserts.

Still, I don’t want my healthy dessert to taste healthy, you know? I still want a little sweetness and satisfaction. Luckily, we have got this healthy nice cream for that!

If you are looking for a healthier treat, then this is the perfect homemade dessert recipe for you! After all, the only thing better than dessert is healthy dessert!

Servings 2

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe bananas, sliced, frozen
  • 1/2 cup pineapple chunks, frozen
  • 1/2 cup strawberries, frozen
  • 2-4 tablespoons any milk

Toppings Optional

  • Chopped nuts - almonds, walnuts, cashews, pecans
  • Seeds - hemp, chia, sunflower, pumpkin, sesame for crunch
  • Granola
  • Fresh fruit or berries
  • Coconut shreds

Instructions

  • Slightly thaw the fruit for 3 to 4 minutes then add it - bananas, pineapple and strawberries to a high-powered blender and blend until smooth. If you need a splash of liquid to get the blender started, add it in by the tablespoon to get things moving.
Notes: For a scoopable texture: If it’s too soft after blending the strawberry pineapple nice cream, pop it back in the freezer for 30 minutes to 2 hours (depending on how soft it was). Check every 20 minutes until it’s your desired consistency. If it’s too thick, add a little more milk/juice (one tablespoon at a time).
Be patient: It will take a while to break down the frozen fruits into a creamy, smooth pineapple strawberry soft-serve consistency. Use a tamper if your blender has one.
