A 4-ingredient recipe for a decadently rich, protein-rich, healthier fudge packed with deliciousness with a Funfetti (sprinkle) twist! You can’t help but smile when you see this bright protein-rich fudge! It’s so easy to make and is great as a gift or a treat for you and the family.
Chocolate lovers, we have something to celebrate! Today, we are jumping into the world of healthier snacks with a QUICK and easy 4-ingredient protein fudge recipe. This sweet treat is not only easy to make but it’s actually good for your mind, body and soul.
Sometimes I look at my recipe blog/site and laugh that I dedicate so much of my time to a never ending stream of chocolate based snacks. I have zero issue with this achievement, nor do I plan to change it. Why would I? Chocolate is just the best and it deserves to nourish us in snack form.
Plus, chocolate isn’t just good for the soul. It can be good for us nutritionally speaking, too. Don’t get me wrong – fudge is fudge, and I definitely place it in the snack category…but choose yourself a good quality chocolate and pair it with whole food ingredients and some protein and you have yourself ‘healthier’ more nourishing fudge.
If you are looking for a super easy, speedy and delicious healthier treat that only calls for a handful of ingredients, you need to try this recipe! And once you try it you will want to make it time and time again.
Whip up a batch in 15 minutes, freeze to harden, and store leftovers in the fridge so they are ready at a moment’s notice. Whether it’s for a pre-or post-workout energy boost or to satisfy that 3 o’clock snack craving these little bites of heaven are the golden ticket. It’s truly rich and delicious, and a little goes a long way.
Most conventional recipes for fudge call for copious amounts of heavily sweetened condensed milk along with the chocolate. Needless to say, the sugar content is through the roof.
I have ‘healthified’ this recipe so you are going to be using REAL good for you ingredients that add to your health not TAKE AWAY from it. It is super rich, uber-decadent – but secretly healthy and guilt-free! Yup, that means no butter, no cream, no refined sugar and no heavily sweetened condensed milk… just pure, fudgy, chocolatey goodness
The big secret here is that you WILL be using condensed milk, but its homemade and FREE of the TRUCKLOADS of sugar in store bought stuff.
The facts are… manufacturers take out about 60% of the water from the milk to “condense” it down. After they “condense” the milk, they add about 40% sugar to fill the void from the water. I’m sure you’re asking yourself why the manufacturers do this. Well, the added sugar means the shelf life is longer, plus transporting the milk is easier due to not having to store it in cooler temperatures.
Its always about the convenience to them, rather than people’s health.
But when you take the time and effort to make your own condensed milk, especially if its from coconut cream to make this delightful fudgy bite, you get all the real, natural flavors – no artificial food flavorings here! Each little cube is like a piece of heaven. This fudge is super soft, yet holds its shape long enough for you to pop them in your mouth… where each piece melts in your mouth.
The recipe for the sugar free homemade condensed milk is below in notes. It really very easy to do and you can keep some in your fridge so its ready to add a dollop on EVERYTHING for a super healthy treat.
It will be something you can enjoy regularly as part of a healthy eating plan. Its high in medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs), a form of beneficial fat that can increase energy levels and enhance brain function and many other health benefits.
MCTs also help people lose weight by making them feel fuller longer and encouraging fat burning, they also have antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties that can boost the immune system and promote healthy skin.
To make this fudge recipe even healthier, I have added protein powder to make it more balanced than the traditional high carb, low protein recipe. Old fashioned baked recipes always had tons of sugar, carbs and fats. The new modern way is to add protein making the recipe more balanced and healthy.
Eating protein-rich foods has many health and fitness benefits, including:
Speeding recovery after exercise and/or injury.
Reducing muscle loss
Building lean muscle
Helping maintain a healthy weight
Curbing hunger
A well-balanced diet with proper ratios of macro nutrients (protein, healthy carbs and fats) provides all of the: energy you need to keep active throughout the day. nutrients you need for growth and repair, helping you to stay strong and healthy and help to prevent diet-related illness.
When you find your optimal balance and amounts of macro nutrients, you take a major step toward reaching your health goals and this balance has been improved in this recipe by the addition of healthy protein.
Your body can only absorb around 25-30 grams of protein at one time and you likely need 80-100 plus grams a day so its important to spread it over all meals and snacks throughout the day so you can meet your required amount.
If you are looking for a quick and easy dessert to make at home, you will love this creamy Funfetti Coconut Protein Fudge. One little square makes me happy in an instant. It’s soft, chewy, nutty and it melts in your mouth – so beautiful.
Fully customizable too – you can add your own extras like nuts, dried fruit, seeds or other flavours to the 4-ingredient base recipe.
