These delightful, sweet and creamy frozen bars are fun to make, delicious to eat, and full of simple, healthy ingredients and pretty too.

Protein packed, no-bake, and perfect to stash in your freezer to grab whenever the craving for a special ‘something’ hits. This recipe is the perfect make-ahead afternoon snack. It’s packed with protein thanks to protein powder and Greek yogurt.

The beauty of this recipe is that you can add as much (or as little) sweetener as you like, add mix ins like nuts, dried fruit or seeds to make it in your way and taste.

Whether you are looking for an easy, on-the-go breakfast or an any time sweet snack, or a delicious dessert, these fro-yo bars are the answer. They come together in only 10 minutes – just make sure to give them plenty of time to chill in the freezer so that they set completely.

Make them the night before, then enjoy the easiest breakfast or afternoon snack the next day. I prefer to use plain yogurt – with honey and vanilla for flavor and sweetness – instead of a pre-flavored yogurt to control the sweetness. You can really get creative with your fruit additions though.

They are tasty, refreshing, and super convenient to store in the freezer and pull out when you want a sweet treat. Your ice cream cravings will be satisfied!

Refined sugar free too – this recipe is naturally sweetened with honey instead of white table sugar or high fructose corn syrup.

They are a little hard straight out of the freezer but if you let them sit for 15 minutes they become softer and easier to eat. You can even break popsicle sticks in half and pop one into each bar for easier eating.

Frozen Yogurt Protein Bars

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups Greek-style yogurt 
  • 1/2 cup peanut (or any nut or seed) butter
  • 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup
  • 2 scoops protein or collagen peptides powder
  • 2 tablespoons chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder 
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Chocolate Swirl

  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips + some extra for decoration
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil

Instructions

  • In a bowl, mix Greek yogurt, peanut butter, honey and vanilla extract until smooth.  Fold in chocolate chips.
    Pour the mixture into a lined 7 x 5-inch loaf pan, baking dish or silicone mold.

Chocolate Swirl

  • Place ¼ cup chocolate chips and coconut oil in small dish and microwave with 15 second bursts stirring between each one until melted and smooth.
    Or use double boiler method - (pot of boiling water with a bowl resting on top) melt the chocolate chips and the coconut oil together.
    Dollop spoonful’s of melted chocolate on top of the yogurt layer and using the back of a knife or spoon swirl the chocolate into the yogurt in a decorative manner.
    Add more chocolate chips on top for decoration if desired.
    Freeze for at least 4 hours or until firm. 
    Once frozen, cut into 8 bars or more smaller squares to serve.
    Will keep up to 3 months in the freezer.
