Chocolate Yum Pie

This simple, very easy to make, no bake, chocolate pie recipe is the ultimate party dessert! Just one taste of the decadent, silky smooth, chocolate filling and you will want to make it time and time again!
It’s a chocolate lover’s dream and if you serve it at your next birthday party or holiday event, do not be surprised at all when guest beg you for the recipe.
It’s a family favorite in our house, we call it chocolate pudding pie as its texture is more like a rich chocolate mousse. Yet there is only 3 ingredients in the base crust and 2 in the yummy, creamy filling.
This chocolate pie is incredibly indulgent and the perfect option when you want something exquisite, yet its quite low calories - fewer than 150 calories per unbelievably fudgy slice!
To sum it up, this chocolate pie topped with whipped coconut cream: its freakin’ delicious!
Course Dessert, Snack

Ingredients

Base Crust

  • 2 cups walnuts, almonds, pecans or a mix
  • 1 cup dates, soaked at least 30 minutes and drained
  • 1/4 cup cocoa or cacao powder

Chocolate Filling

  • 1 13.5oz can coconut milk or cream full fat
  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips

Topping

  • Whipped Coconut Cream (recipe link in notes below)

Instructions

Base Crust

  • Line an 8 x 8” baking pan or pie dish with parchment paper on the bottom and sides leaving some overhanging to act as a handle to get the pie out easier for cutting.
Place the walnuts in a food processor and process until broken down and crumbly. Add the dates and continue to process until well combined and mixture is sticky and holds together.
Be careful not to over process as its nice to have different sized ‘bits’ to add texture to your base crust.
Transfer the mixture to your prepared pie or tart pan and press down firmly to evenly distribute the dough. Set aside while you make the filling.

Chocolate Filling

  • Heat the coconut milk or cream until barely boiling. Turn off heat completely, and stir in the chocolate chips until they melt. Pour filling into the base crust.
Either freeze a few hours until firm enough to cut or refrigerate overnight (if it's still too soft to cut clean slices, freeze a half hour to get it firmer). Refrigerate or freeze leftovers.
