Chocolate Tahini Date Protein Bites

Chocolate Tahini Date Protein Bites

Fudgy • Naturally Sweet • No-Bake Protein Treats

There is something timeless about the combination of chocolate and dates. Rich, naturally sweet, and so satisfying, it’s a pairing that feels indulgent while still rooted in real, nourishing ingredients. These Chocolate Tahini Date Protein Bites take that classic idea and give it a modern, protein-boosted twist –  transforming a traditional sweet into a functional snack you can enjoy anytime.

Dates create the foundation of these bites, blending into a caramel-like base that holds everything together without needing refined sugar. Tahini adds a subtle nuttiness and creamy texture, while protein powder brings balance and staying power, turning each bite into more than just a treat – it becomes fuel.

If you have ever wanted something that sits perfectly between dessert and energy snack, this recipe delivers exactly that.

Why Dates Make the Perfect Natural Sweetener

Dates are often the secret ingredient behind healthier desserts because they provide more than just sweetness. Their natural stickiness creates a soft, fudgy texture that’s ideal for no-bake recipes, eliminating the need for syrups or complicated binders.

Beyond flavour, dates offer fibre and minerals, helping create a slower energy release compared to traditional sugary snacks. When blended with tahini and cocoa, they take on a deep chocolate-caramel flavour that feels incredibly decadent.

In these bites, dates act as both the sweetener and the structure – proof that simple ingredients can create something truly special.

The Magic of Tahini + Chocolate

Tahini might seem unexpected in a sweet recipe, but it’s the ingredient that makes these bites unforgettable. Made from ground sesame seeds, tahini adds a silky richness and a slightly savoury depth that balances the sweetness of the dates and chocolate.

Paired with cocoa and dark chocolate, tahini creates a flavour that feels sophisticated yet comforting – almost like a chocolate truffle with a hint of toasted sesame. It also helps give the bites a smooth, melt-in-your-mouth consistency once chilled.

A Protein Boost Without the Chalky Taste

Adding protein powder to desserts can sometimes be tricky, but in this recipe it blends seamlessly into the date base. Because the dates and tahini are naturally rich and creamy, they prevent the protein from tasting dry or overpowering.

The result is a bite that’s:

Soft and fudgy
Richly chocolatey
Naturally sweet
Satisfying enough to curb cravings
Perfect as a post-workout snack, afternoon energy boost, or nourishing dessert.

Simple, No-Bake Goodness

One of the best things about these Chocolate Tahini Date Protein Bites is how effortless they are. No oven. No complicated steps. Just blend, shape, chill, and enjoy.

They are ideal for meal prep because they keep well in the fridge or freezer, making it easy to have a wholesome sweet ready whenever you need it.

The Final Bite

These Chocolate Tahini Date Protein Bites are proof that nourishing snacks can still feel luxurious. Rich chocolate, creamy tahini, and naturally sweet dates come together in a no bake recipe that’s simple, satisfying, and endlessly crave-worthy. Keep a batch ready in the fridge and you will always have a wholesome chocolate treat waiting for you. 🤎

Ingredients

Date Nut Protein Base

  • 2 cups soft dates, if dry, soak 30 minutes and drain
  • 1/2 cup nuts of choice (cashews, almonds or walnuts)
  • 1/2 cup vanilla or chocolate protein powder
  • 1/4 cup tahini (sesame seed butter)
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch sea salt
  • 1/2 cup sesame seeds to roll logs in

Chocolate Strip

  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil

Tahini Swirl

  • 1 tablespoon tahini for swirl on top of melted chocolate

Instructions

Date Nut Protein Base

  • Add dates, tahini, protein powder, cocoa powder, coconut oil, vanilla, and salt to a food processor. Blend until a thick, sticky dough forms.
If the mixture feels dry, add 1–2 teaspoons of water or milk until it comes together smoothly.
Lastly add nuts and pulse a few times to break up the nuts but still leave chunky bits for added crunch.
Divide the mixture into 2 equal parts and roll each into a thick, long log. Roll in sesame seeds to coat.
Use a metal straw, or the bottom of a teaspoon (or anything else you have that's metal, long and cylindrical) to press down the middle of each log to create a well for the melted chocolate.

Chocolate Strip Up The Middle Of The Log

  • Place chocolate chips and coconut oil in small dish and microwave with 20 second bursts stirring between each one until melted and smooth.
Or use double boiler method - (pot of boiling water with a bowl resting on top) melt the chocolate chips and the coconut oil together.
Once melted, carefully pour into the well you have created up the middle of each log. Top with an optional drizzle of tahini, then run a sharp knife/cocktail stick down the middle to create a swirl affect.
Refrigerate until the chocolate is set, then slice each log into 10 (more or less) slices.
Store in the fridge forup to 1 week or freezer for up to 3 months.
Best enjoyed slightly chilled for a fudgy texture.
