If you love the rich, chocolate-hazelnut flavour of Nutella but want a healthier way to enjoy it, this Nutella Protein Nice Cream is about to become your new favourite frozen dessert. It is unbelievably creamy, wonderfully chocolatey, and packed with protein, making it a treat you can feel good about enjoying any day of the week.
Unlike traditional ice cream that is often loaded with sugar and heavy cream, this no-churn nice cream relies on the natural richness of coconut cream and the satisfying power of protein powder to create a silky, scoopable dessert. Add a spoonful of chocolate hazelnut spread and you have got all the indulgent flavour you crave with a more nourishing twist.
At Blended Bites, we believe healthy treats should taste every bit as delicious as their classic counterparts – and this recipe is proof that they can.
Why You Will Love This Nice Cream
This frozen dessert is incredibly simple to make. Just blend a handful of ingredients, freeze until firm, then scoop and enjoy. The coconut cream gives it an ultra-luxurious texture that is surprisingly close to premium ice cream. Protein powder adds body while helping keep you feeling satisfied, and the chocolate hazelnut spread brings that familiar Nutella-inspired flavour everyone loves.
The result is a dessert that is creamy, rich and decadent without requiring an ice cream maker. It is also perfect for meal prep. Make a batch on the weekend and you’ll have healthy frozen treats waiting whenever your sweet tooth calls.
A Better Way to Enjoy Dessert
Healthy eating doesn’t mean saying goodbye to dessert.
In fact, one of the easiest ways to build sustainable eating habits is by creating healthier versions of the foods you already love. Rather than focusing on what you need to eliminate, we love adding ingredients that nourish your body while still delivering incredible flavour.
That is the heart of the Blended Bites philosophy.
Protein helps keep you fuller for longer.
Healthy fats provide lasting satisfaction.
Natural ingredients replace heavily processed ones.
And suddenly dessert becomes something that fuels your body instead of leaving you searching for another snack an hour later.
The Secret to Creamy Nice Cream
Coconut cream is one of our favourite ingredients for frozen desserts. It is naturally high healthy fat content creates an incredibly smooth, velvety consistency without needing dairy cream. Once frozen, it scoops beautifully and melts slowly, giving you that luxurious mouthfeel you would expect from traditional ice cream.
Using full-fat coconut cream is important here. Light coconut milk simply won’t produce the same creamy texture.
The protein powder also plays an important role by helping thicken the mixture while adding a boost of nutrition. A good-quality chocolate or vanilla protein powder works beautifully depending on whether you prefer a deeper chocolate flavour or a lighter hazelnut profile.
Make It Your Own
One of the best things about this recipe is how easy it is to customise. Fold chopped roasted hazelnuts through the mixture before freezing for added crunch.
Swirl in extra chocolate spread for beautiful ribbons throughout the nice cream.
Add dark chocolate chips for bursts of chocolate in every bite.
Or top each serving with sliced banana, fresh berries or crushed roasted hazelnuts for an extra-special dessert.
You can even enjoy it as a smoothie bowl by serving it slightly softer and adding your favourite healthy toppings.
Perfect for Every Occasion
This nice cream works beautifully as an afternoon snack, post-workout treat or healthier dessert after dinner.
Kids love the chocolate-hazelnut flavour, adults appreciate the creamy texture, and everyone enjoys knowing they are eating something made with simple, wholesome ingredients.
Keep a container in your freezer and you will always have something satisfying ready whenever chocolate cravings strike.
That’s what healthy desserts should be – easy, delicious and nourishing. One scoop is never quite enough, but fortunately this recipe is packed with ingredients that leave you feeling satisfied rather than sluggish.
It’s proof that dessert doesn’t have to be a guilty pleasure. Sometimes, it can simply be another delicious way to nourish your body while treating yourself to something truly special.⚡
