If you have spent any time on social media lately, you may have seen this yogurt cup hack. It turns already-nutritious Greek yogurt into a mouthwatering dessert in under two minutes. The best part? You probably have all the ingredients in your kitchen right now!
Have you ever seen a food hack on TikTok that you just have to try? I usually don't, either. But then I saw a viral food hack of a peanut butter chocolate yogurt cup concoction and it looked so darn good that I had to try it.
So, I'm having dessert for breakfast again and I'm not sorry. This sweet and salty combo is perfect and gives you an excellent start to the day.
Protein for breakfast is so important to me and these yogurt bowls make it super easy to get a lot in so it keeps me full for hours.
In the diet- and weight loss-obsessed world that is TikTok, this is billed as a high-protein treat that will satisfy your sweet tooth without the "guilt." I'm not one for feeling ashamed of what I eat, so I made this solely because it looks amazing.
This recipe (if you can even call it a recipe) is so simple - a spoonful of peanut butter mixed into a cup of Greek yogurt, topped with melted chocolate, then refrigerated to set. This turns the chocolate into a shatteringly crisp "magic shell" of sorts.
The idea is completely genius, yet ridiculously easy, and it quickly went viral with commenters raving about how delicious it is.
The Greek yogurt is high in protein, the peanut butter and coconut oil have good fats, the dark chocolate is high in iron, and the nuts are good fiber, so it is a pretty well balanced and healthy snack to have.
Plus it tastes delicious! You can use peanuts to give it that snickers style ,but I also like using walnuts or almonds. I also usually add some flax, chia, and hemp seeds for extra nutrients.
"Okay making this tomorrow and the next day and the next day…," said one commenter. And in the spirit of meal-prepping,another shared how obsessed they were, adding "I need to pre-make them for my lunches."
Since then, influencers, dietitians and just about everyone else have been sharing their own versions all over social media, proving just how versatile and customizable this yogurt hack is.
One influencer used a berry-flavored Greek yogurt that she drizzled with melted white chocolate and topped with chopped almonds. While another made a version stirring protein powder into yogurt and topped it with a layer of runny peanut butter, then a second layer of melted chocolate. She then finished it off with roasted peanuts and sea salt.
However you choose to make it, you can't go wrong. You might even find yourself having a "Why haven't I thought of this before?" moment like I did.
It's obvious why this dessert trend has been so well-received. Not only is it delicious, but it's also made with a few simple ingredients (that you likely already have at home), packs a serious nutritional punch and takes just a few minutes to make. So what are you waiting for? If you start now, you could be eating this in about 15 minutes!
Don't be afraid to experiment with yogurt flavors, either. A strawberry cup caught my eye, and it turned out that my peanut butter and jelly-like creation was even better than the one made with vanilla yogurt.
The fruit's tartness really helped cut through the richness, and the peanut butter popped more than in the vanilla. I highly recommend trying it with your favorite berry yogurt. Or coffee yogurt ... or coconut yogurt, with almonds on top. You get the idea.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup vanilla Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon peanut butter
  • 2 tablespoons dark chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon nuts

Instructions

  • Mix together yogurt and peanut butter.
    Place chocolate chips and coconut oil in small dish and microwave at 50% power with 15-20 second bursts stirring between each one until melted and smooth.
    Or use double boiler method - (pot of boiling water with a bowl resting on top) melt the chocolate chips and the coconut oil together.
    Once melted, pour chocolate over the yoghurt and peanut butter and top with chopped peanuts.
    Place in the fridge for 10 minutes until chocolate is set.
