Peanut Butter Protein Spread

Peanut Butter Protein Spread

If you love peanut butter, you are going to want to keep a jar of this Peanut Butter Protein Spread in your fridge.

It takes just three simple ingredients – peanut butter, protein powder and a little milk – and transforms ordinary peanut butter into a creamy, protein-rich spread that can be used in so many delicious ways.

This is exactly the kind of recipe I love at Blended Bites. No complicated ingredients, no baking and no long list of instructions. Just wholesome foods combined in a way that makes it easier to add more nourishment to the foods you already enjoy.

Because healthy eating does not have to mean giving up the foods you love.

It is about Addition Eating – adding nourishing ingredients rather than constantly taking things away.

Why Make Peanut Butter Protein Spread?

Regular peanut butter is already a nutritious and satisfying food, providing protein and healthy fats. By adding protein powder and a splash of milk, you can turn it into an even more protein-rich spread with a smooth, creamy consistency. And because you control the ingredients, you can make it exactly the way you like it.

Use vanilla protein powder for a naturally sweet, dessert-like spread, chocolate protein powder for a chocolate peanut butter version, or an unflavoured protein powder if you simply want to increase the protein without changing the flavour too much.

You can also make this recipe with almond butter, cashew butter or another nut or seed butter.

Just Three Ingredients

Peanut butter is the creamy, flavour-packed foundation. Choose natural peanut butter if you prefer a simple ingredient list. Crunchy peanut butter works too if you enjoy a little texture.

Protein powder adds extra protein and helps transform the peanut butter into a thicker, spreadable treat. Vanilla and chocolate are particularly delicious, but any protein powder you enjoy can work.

Milk is the secret to getting the consistency just right. A small amount loosens the mixture and creates that wonderfully creamy texture. Dairy or plant-based milk can both be used. You may need slightly more or less milk depending on the thickness of your peanut butter and protein powder.

So Many Ways to Use It

This is not just a spread for toast. Spoon it over banana slices or apple wedges for a quick snack. Swirl it through Greek yogurt for an easy protein-packed breakfast. Add a spoonful to oatmeal or overnight oats for extra creaminess and peanut butter flavour. It is also delicious spread over rice cakes, crackers or wholegrain toast.

For something a little more indulgent, use it as a filling for protein sandwiches, dates or no-bake energy bites. You can even spoon it over pancakes or waffles and add sliced banana and a few dark chocolate chips. And if you are making one of the many no-bake treats from Blended Bites, this spread can become an instant filling or topping.

Make It Chocolate

Want to take it in a completely different direction? Add a teaspoon or two of unsweetened cocoa powder along with your protein powder. You will have a creamy Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Spread that tastes remarkably dessert-like.

A little vanilla and a pinch of sea salt can make the flavours even more delicious. You could also add cinnamon, a drizzle of maple syrup or a sprinkle of cacao nibs.

A Great Make-Ahead Snack

One of the best things about this recipe is how quickly it comes together. There is no cooking, no blender and no special equipment required. Simply stir everything together until smooth. Make a batch at the beginning of the week and keep it refrigerated so you have an easy protein-rich addition ready whenever hunger strikes.

It is a perfect example of how a few simple ingredients can create something much more versatile than you might expect.

The Blended Bites Way

I love recipes like this because they do not feel like “health food.” They are creamy, rich and satisfying, with all the deliciousness of peanut butter and the added benefit of extra protein.

And that is the whole idea behind Blended Bites.

Do not subtract the foods you love. Add more goodness to them.

Whether you spread it on toast, swirl it through yogurt, dip fruit into it or eat a spoonful straight from the jar, this Peanut Butter Protein Spread is a simple little recipe that can make every day snacks much more satisfying. 🤍

Ingredients

  • 1 cup natural peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup protein powder - vanilla, chocolate or unflavoured
  • 1/4-1/2 cup milk of choice, added gradually

Optional Additions

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • 1-2 teaspoons maple syrup or honey, if you prefer it sweeter
  • 1-2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder for a chocolate version
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  • Add the peanut butter and protein powder to a bowl and stir together.
Gradually add the milk, a tablespoon or two at a time, stirring well after each addition.
Continue adding milk until you reach your preferred consistency. For a thick spread, use less milk; for a softer, creamier spread, add a little more.
Stir in vanilla, salt, maple syrup, cocoa or cinnamon if using.
Spoon into a clean jar or airtight container and refrigerate.
Storage: Keep refrigerated for up to 5–7 days. Stir before serving if the mixture thickens in the refrigerator.
Tip: Different protein powders absorb different amounts of liquid, so add the milk slowly rather than adding the full amount at once.
