If you haven’t hopped on the viral cottage cheese trend yet, I don’t blame you, because I was sceptical at first too. But now that I’ve tried so many recipes, both sweet AND savoury, with cottage cheese being the main ingredient… I’m such a fan!
High-quality dairy is such a great, balanced food because it’s high in protein and fats to help keep you fuller for longer. Cottage cheese is one of my favorite ways to add more protein into my diet which helps support hormone health, blood sugar, muscle growth, and SO much more! Add it to eggs, pancakes, desserts – the possibilities are endless and I feel like I’ve tried them all.
The world of desserts and sweets is constantly evolving, with new trends and flavors being introduced every day. One such trend that has been making waves in recent times is the cottage cheese trend.
I have to admit – I was completely sceptical of the viral cottage cheese ice cream and mousse trend. As a fitness professional, I have seen SO many “healthy” food trends come and go, and honestly, a lot just kind of fall flat.
But I decided to give it a try, and holy moly – I was so impressed! The cottage cheese gives the mousse such creaminess, and gives a subtle cheesecake flavor, too. Plus it adds protein!
It is amazing! Literally amazing. This weird cottage cheese and yogurt concoction is actually not weird at all. I can tell you for certain that this high protein treat is better than any of those healthy or low calorie puddings you can find at the grocery store.
With a deliciously rich flavor, creamy consistency, and thick texture … this homemade dessert looks, feels, and tastes like the real deal. I promise you … it is SO GOOD! And no … you can’t taste the cheese one bit.
Its just as it sounds, cottage cheese that’s been blended with yogurt or whipped to a light, fluffy consistency. It has a delightful mouthfeel, with a perfect blend of creamy, tangy, and a little salty.
Because cottage cheese is relatively low in carbohydrates, many who are on the keto diet or another low-carb eating plan are including it in their diets.
Cottage cheese is really good for you. Not only is it full of protein and packed with nutrients, but it is low in calories. About 80% of the protein in cottage cheese is casein, which is slowly absorbed by your body, and is ideally consumed before sleep for muscle synthesis.
That makes cottage cheese the ideal evening snack with 28 grams of protein, healthy fats and fibre as well as added vitamins and antioxidants, depending on what fruits and nuts you use as toppings.
To harness the true power of cottage cheese, you need to whip it. This goes especially for people – who believe they don’t like cottage cheese and I think the issue is related to texture. But when you give cottage cheese a trip through the blender, the textural conundrum goes away. All you are left with is a creamy, airy mousse like treat.
If you want a healthy, balanced sweet treat that still feels indulgent or if you are looking for a way to add more protein to your everyday diet then this quick and easy whipped cottage cheese dessert is definitely for you!
In conclusion, the cottage cheese in everything trend is taking the world by storm. With its creamy texture, tangy flavor, and nutritional aspects it is no wonder that this ingredient is becoming a favorite among foodies everywhere.
