These chocolate covered peanut butter frozen bananas are the perfect healthier frozen treat. Frozen bananas get coated in a sweet peanut butter, a rich chocolate drizzle and salty, roasted peanuts to make these Healthy Frozen Banana Snickers! You will want these in your freezer at all times!
Anything with the name “snickers” in it is a win in my book. I mean, what’s not to love about a nougat base, creamy caramel and rich chocolate coating?
While name-brand snickers are delicious, in my opinion, they aren’t made with the healthiest ingredients. I don’t think there is anything wrong with having a classic snickers bar on the rare occasion. However, if you want to enjoy a “snickers” every day, then you will need a healthier recipe like this one.
These bad boys will be your new go-to snack for when those sweet cravings hit but you want to keep things health-conscious! These delightful little bites combine the beloved flavors of ripe banana, rich chocolate, and crunchy nut butter into a perfectly balanced treat.
Each bite is a guilt-free indulgence that satisfies your sweet tooth while providing a boost of energy from natural ingredients. Whether you are enjoying them on their own, tossing them into a smoothie, or using them as topping for your morning oatmeal, these healthy banana bites are sure to bring a smile to your face.
Your kids will think they are eating dessert, but these banana bites are way healthier than popsicles or ice cream. Such a fun treat for kids of all ages. Adults love them, too!
It’s a recipe so simple that it barely deserves to be called a recipe, but even so, it’s a snack that feels extra special. And it will only take you five ingredients and about fifteen minutes to make.
The dipping chocolate is incredibly simple and you only need your microwave to make it. Chocolate chips – semisweet, dark or milk chocolate all work fine – that you will melt with a touch of coconut oil. The coconut oil helps to give it that “magic shell” effect and helps the chocolate harden back up once you have dipped in the cold frozen banana.

Healthy Frozen Banana Snickers
Ingredients
- 3 large ripe bananas
- 1/4 cup peanut (or any nut or seed) butter
- 1/2 cup chopped peanuts, roasted, salted
Chocolate Coating
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil
Instructions
- Line a tray with parchment paper.Peel and slice bananas into one thirds lengthwise (6 pieces total). Spoon about 1/2 teaspoon of peanut butter on top of each banana bite and spread out a bit over the bite. Note: Heat up the peanut butter in the microwave for about 30-45 seconds, this makes it easier to spread.Freeze for 1 hour or until firm. Towards the end of that time melt the chocolate coating.
Chocolate Topping
- Place chocolate chips and coconut oil in small dish and microwave with 20 second bursts stirring between each one until melted and smooth.Or use double boiler method - (pot of boiling water with a bowl resting on top) melt the chocolate chips and the coconut oil together.Remove the bites from the freezer. Dunk each banana bite in the melted chocolate using a fork to roll it around so its fully coated. Place back on parchment pager and sprinkle with chopped peanuts.Place the bites back in freezer to harden up, for about 15 minutes.Storage Tips: Store the banana bites in an airtight container in the freezer. They can be enjoyed straight from the freezer or allowed to sit at room temperature for a few minutes for a softer bite.Notes: You can also sprinkle on some other optional ingredients (after dipping into melted chocolate) like crushed nuts or cake decorating sprinkles to add some fun and festive colors.Note: You can also cut a popsicle stick in half and push it into the banana bite before freezing the first time. Makes them easier to dunk in the chocolate and also makes eating them easier.
