Frozen Banana Protein Bark (Tasty Viral Trend)
Ingredients
- 2-3 bananas
Peanut Butter Layer
- 1/4 cup peanut (or any other nut or seed) butter
- 1/4 cup protein powder, plain or vanilla
- 2-3 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
Chocolate Topping
- 1 1/4 cups chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil
- Flaky salt, to top (optional)
Instructions
- Line a baking tray with parchment paper and make sure it will fit in your freezer.Peel bananas and cut into slices, ¼-½ inch thick. Place banana slices in rows to make a rectangle shape, close together on your lined baking tray in an even layer, so they are touching but not overlapping. Place in the freezer to set. In a small bowl, mix together protein powder, honey and peanut butter until smooth and creamy.Remove banana slices from freezer and spread peanut butter layer on top of banana slices. Place back in the freezer.
Chocolate Topping
- Place chocolate chips and coconut oil in small dish and microwave with 20 second bursts stirring between each one until melted and smooth.Or use double boiler method - (pot of boiling water with a bowl resting on top) melt the chocolate chips and the coconut oil together.Pour melted chocolate over the peanut butter layer and spread out with a spoon until all of the bark is covered. Optionally top your bark with some flaky salt, then place back in the freezer to set for 3-4 hours until its completely frozen. Slide the parchment paper onto a cutting board and slice or break into 15 pieces.To store, place in container and store in freezer for up to 1 month.
