The bottom layer is tasty with a nutty base that has a perfect crunch to it with dates to sweeten. The top layer is a delicious, creamy, yogurt mixture flavoured with lime zest and juice. The combination of the lime and three types of coconut products (oil, flakes, and flour) is nothing short of a mouth full of heaven!

This ‘healthified’ dessert/protein slice contains only wholesome ingredients. It is full of creamy tropical goodness without any refined baddies! This means no white processed flour, no truckloads of sugar, no heavily sweetened condensed milk, and no artificial food coloring or flavours.
The protein and healthy fat content from the nuts, coconut and your fave protein powder ensures that these bars not only taste good, but you won’t need to be reaching for another one shortly after eating the first one as they are pretty darn filling!
Why I love this lime bars recipe:
Limes are well known for their pucker-inducing flavor and acidic taste, which is zesty yet vibrant. How do they compare to lemons? Someone once said that lemons are sour and limes are bitter.
But when you add sweetness, the limes come into their own, bringing a bright and incredible taste to the dish. And that’s true with these lime bars. I will always be a fan of lemon bars (forever and ever), but lime bars are a totally different protein bar recipe altogether. And utterly irreplaceable.
Super simple – this coconut and lime slice uses basic ingredients and takes just 15 minutes to prepare. A great recipe for beginner bakers and young cooks!
No bake – there’s no need to turn on the oven with this delicious slice. It’s completely no-bake – simply blend. Chill. Slice. Enjoy.
Freezer friendly – this slice freezes perfectly so make it ahead of time and just take out what you need!
Easy and adaptable! Super simple to put together, this recipe can also be customised to your preferences. Even though these bars already contain so many amazing nutrients, you can add/swap different ingredients.
Avoid the nasties! Making homemade protein bars with whole nutritious foods avoids the preservatives and additives in store-bought protein or energy bars.
Amazing texture! Nuts and coconut give this recipe incredible crunch while the binding ingredients make these bars deliciously chewy!
Naturally sweetened! You will love the natural sweetness from the dates and honey in this recipe! Plus they contain antioxidants, minerals, and vitamins to support brain, digestive, and heart health and protect against disease. You don’t get that from sugar – nothing to see there but empty calories.
The Yogurt Lime Protein Frosting is to die for. Its smooth, creamy and delicious, perfect for topping cakes, brownies or piping onto cupcakes or cookies, or for a dollop on top of ice cream, smoothies or smoothie bowls! Its nice to have a batch already made in the fridge so you can put a dollop on EVERYTHING.
I love that you don’t have to use your oven, and these bars are just the right size to satisfy a sweet tooth without over indulging. Creamy, slightly tart, zesty, perfectly sweet, and 100% irresistible. They are more than just protein bars: they are an invitation to treat ‘yo self’.
