Disney-Inspired Pineapple Protein Whip

If you are not familiar with Dole Whip, a swirled pineapple soft serve dessert that tastes like a cross between pineapple frozen yogurt and creamy vanilla ice cream. It’s amazingly delicious! It’s also pretty difficult to come by, unless you are visiting Disneyland or the Dole Plantation in Hawaii.

Created in 1984 by the Dole Food Company, Dole Whip is a soft serve dessert item made from real pineapple. Although the overwhelming flavor is pineapple, it has a certain tropical flavor that is absolutely delicious, something coconutty and creamy.

The Dole whip you can buy at Disneyland is made with sugar, coconut oil, natural and artificial flavors (including pineapple juice), and lots of stabilizers. This allows it be mixed with water and come out of a soft serve machine, but it’s not exactly something you want to replicate at home.

How To Make Healthier Dole Whip at Home

Say hello to the perfect anytime dessert or snack. This healthier pineapple dole whip recipe is SO SIMPLE, yet SO GOOD. And all you need is a blender!

Today we are making a healthier and lighter version of the classic. Made with frozen pineapple chunks, coconut cream and infused with protein powder to make it macro (protein, carb, fat) balanced. It’s creamy, light and refreshing and tastes absolutely delicious. And makes the perfect sweet treat or snack.

Although this copycat version of Pineapple Whip is – super rich, uber decadent – it’s secretly healthy and guilt-free! The big secret here is that you will be using real food ingredients, free of the LOADS of sugar in store bought stuff.

Why you will like this recipe:

It’s made with simple clean ingredients
It’s so fast to whip up
The texture is so creamy and has a tropical flavor
It is dairy and refined sugar free
It supports healthy digestion due to the enzyme bromelain found in pineapple

What you will need:

Pineapple – Picking a ripe pineapple can be tricky I know! You want to get one that is not too green, but is turning yellow. When you smell the outside of the pineapple and it smells sweet, then it is ready!

Coconut Cream – I love using full fat coconut cream from the can. This provides healthy fats and makes this frozen treat super smooth and creamy.

Protein Powder – I love using a protein or collagen peptides powder in this recipe! Protein is essential and I always try to get optimal protein each day! Adding protein to this treat also makes it more blood sugar balanced.

Honey – This is optional if you want a sweeter flavor. You can also use maple syrup or monk fruit to sweeten as well.

Its interesting that this whipped frozen treat doesn’t have to just be pineapple. You can use many other frozen fruits to create this delicious mixture, have it taste great, and still get that creamy texture.

Some different flavors you could do: strawberry, mango, raspberry, orange, banana, so many more. There are also options to mix it up! Swirl vanilla ice cream with your Whip as you are serving it up for a creamy vanilla flavor and beautiful look.

For a zesty flair, add lemon or lime juice to whatever fruit concoction you are making to create a slight sour punch and tropical element. This recipe is just a starting point. You can also add your own add ins or toppings like nuts, dried fruit, seeds or other add ins to the base recipe.
