WOW! Just wow! These beautiful, delicious healthy, fudgy, chocolate-rich protein balls will be ready in minutes, no baking required.

These little bites of happiness are packed full of chocolate flavor. Not only do adults love them but they have been taste-tested and approved by kids as well! They are sweet (without refined sugar!), healthy and are great for snacking.

It’s time for snack bites, bliss balls, energy balls, call them what you like. To me they are little spheres of snacking. Little orbs of awesomeness.

These yummy chocolate protein bites are my go-to snack whenever I am looking for an instant boost of energy or even when I just want to treat myself and my loved ones with a sweet delicious dessert made healthy.

This recipe should be at the top of your dessert list. This foolproof confection recipe boasts a luscious filling of dates, oats and tahini (sesame seed butter) perfectly balanced with chocolate protein powder.

They are easy to make and ready in no time and are packed with protein and fiber. They really do make the perfect bite-sized dessert. This is one of those ‘bet you can’t eat just one’ kinda treats! That tangy, creamy, berry filling can be so addicting…

But these small but mighty bites are truly a minimum fuss dessert. They hit at only 7 ingredients for the protein bites and 2 for the chocolate coating! And the entire process goes like this: blend, shape, dip in chocolate, chill, done!

The flavour and richness are wild. So, SO good. I have the bites all waiting in a container in the freezer, and I just set one (or two or three) out to thaw a bit while cleaning up after dinner. Perfect sweet relief at the end of a busy day.

Basically, I’ve learned that sugar cravings are not all that cute – you just can’t have it all… and the more disciplined you become with your sweet tooth cravings – the healthier you are. These snack balls help to keep those cravings under control.

But, but wait! What if this said dessert is incredibly um… Good-for-you! Like for reals! No sugar added, healthy ingredients, amazing taste, completely guilt-free!? Do all my rules and all my discipline for craving sugar go out the window? Ha! They kind of do!!!

Because these chocolate bites are crazy amazing you can feel good about eating one or two of them, even for breakfast and not feel one piece of guilt. They are perfectly portioned and great for sharing and make an excellent treat to gift to friends, or serve as desserts.

Just trust me on this… this is a no-bake, recipe for a dessert or snack so darn delicious I think you should just make a double batch and call it a day!

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups dates, soaked 30 minutes and drained
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup tahini (sesame seed) paste/butter
  • 1/4 cup protein powder, chocolate
  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Chocolate Coating

  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • Flaky salt

Instructions

  • Line a small tray or dish with parchment paper and set aside.
Place dates, oats, tahini, protein powder, honey, cocoa powder and vanilla into a food processor and process until well combined.
Scoop out in tablespoon lots and roll into balls as big as you like (I make mine fairly small, less than a tablespoon of mixture, but you can make them any size you like) and place them on the lined tray.
Pop them in the fridge to cool while you melt the chocolate.

Chocolate Coating

  • Place chocolate chips and coconut oil in small dish and microwave with 20 second bursts stirring between each one until melted and smooth.
Or use double boiler method - (pot of boiling water with a bowl resting on top) melt the chocolate chips and the coconut oil together.
Remove the balls from the fridge and use two forks to hold each ball and one by one, dip into the melted chocolate and roll around until fully coated, then place back on the parchment lined tray.
Or hold each one with a fork over the melted chocolate and spoon it over letting the excess drip back into the bowl.
Sprinkle with flaky salt if desired, then chill until chocolate has set.
Put the bars into the freezer for at least 30 minutes for the chocolate to set.
Once chocolate is set and crisp, enjoy your brownie protein balls,
