This creamy dreamy berry smoothie bowl is a refreshing breakfast. A super thick, dessert-like, delicious and nutritious “to-die-for” creation that’s fully customizable with all your favorite protein, fiber, healthy fat, and nutrient-dense toppings!
When your life is in super speed mode, there are mornings that you forget to eat. YES! Imagine that! Its possible to forget to put food in your mouth until lunch time. I practiced this nasty habit myself when I had to go to work each morning. It can cause your health and body to suffer and certainly your energy levels.
So if this is you, its time to tell yourself, no more.
I found when I took the time to make something delicious for myself the night before with minimum effort in the morning it really helped to avoid this bad habit. I have all my fruit pre frozen, my protein powder measured out and other ingredients including toppings ready to go. Busy mornings call for a quick breakfast. So, when I’m looking to make something nutritious and filling, but healthy FAST, smoothies and smoothie bowls are the way to go.
As much as I like smoothies, thick smoothie bowls are my true love. They are super creamy, eaten with a spoon and can be topped with a wonderful mix of juicy fresh fruit, crunchy nuts or granola, creamy nut butters and superstar whipped coconut cream (recipe below in notes).
If I’m going for a “real meal” rather than a snack or a drink, I always choose a smoothie bowl. If you are looking for an alternative breakfast treat that is healthy and completely plant based, this is the recipe for you!
Smoothie bowls largely use the same ingredients as a regular smoothie but rely on more frozen elements and much less liquid. This means that, when blending using a high-speed blender or food processor, the fruits become a deliciously creamy, thick, soft-serve consistency.
You can then transfer this creamy and refreshing mixture to a bowl and its also so incredibly easy to transform it into a heartier, balanced meal with various toppings that provide protein, vitamins and nutrients to fuel your day.
Why you will love this recipe:
Easy: Make this blue raspberry smoothie bowl in about 5 minutes. Keep the fruits in your freezer, and you can enjoy a smoothie bowl any time!
Healthy: This smoothie bowl recipe is a healthy breakfast filled with nutritious ingredients that are high in antioxidants and vitamins from the raspberries, blueberries, banana and yogurt.
It’s a great way get in some healthy vitamins first thing in the morning. This recipe is one of my favorites – creamy, smooth, and naturally sweet. It kind of reminds me of ice cream (but healthy!) This is not a “replacement” for ice cream, but the creamy texture is similar!
This balanced breakfast requires no cooking, no need to hover over a stove, and just a few minutes to prepare. Plus, the base thick smoothie bowl recipe already provides you with your entire daily vitamin C requirements, along with Vitamin E, potassium, folate, and tons of fiber. This can then be built on with your choice of toppings.
The results are akin to a healthy nice cream bowl you can eat with a spoon and enjoy for breakfast. What’s not to love?! It’s a fantastic way to start your day on a healthy note while indulging in a satisfying treat.
