Who says birthdays should come only once a year? With my Birthday Cake Protein Shake, every morning can feel like a special celebration! It has all the fun flavors of a sprinkle-studded, birthday cake in one healthy fruit-sweetened smoothie!
It is thick, creamy and tastes like the yummiest ice cream! It is garnished with sprinkles and coconut whipped cream (recipe below in notes). It is refined sugar-free, vegan, paleo and gluten-free. And of course its made the Funfetti way, which means sprinkles, lots of sprinkles, because….everything tastes better with sprinkles, right? Plus you can have fun with the toppings and get creative.
This version of a protein shake/smoothie requires just a few minutes to put together. Or, if you really want to please your family, you can serve these to the family for breakfast. Your kids will think they are having dessert to start their day. Just double or triple the recipe. This recipe is for one. All for you. No need to share.
There can be no more excuses for not eating a delicious and satisfying breakfast, no matter how busy your mornings are! This protein shake/smoothie is guaranteed to be something you look forward to waking up to! Sprinkles, Sprinkles, Sprinkles make me happy, happy, happy!
The base of this protein shake is frozen bananas which give it a thick and creamy feel – almost like ice cream. Creamy and thick, healthy with lots of vanilla ingredients, vanilla almond milk, vanilla Greek yogurt, vanilla protein powder, more vanilla and frozen bananas.
Then I topped it with whipped coconut cream with even more vanilla for added nutrition and more creaminess. It is naturally sweetened with dates and the bananas keeping it refined sugar-free.
You can also add rolled oats for a cake-like flavor. To keep it thick I only used ½ cup of plant-based milk. You could add whatever birthday cake flavor or color you like best. Here, I stuck with vanilla/white to keep it classic.
This delicious recipe is considered absolutely praiseworthy after a hard workout or if you just want a special treat for yourself without all the guilt. It’s not loaded with a ton of calories, and it’s super healthy, yummy, creamy and delish, protein-rich!
It is amazingly good! Another one of those HOLY YUM treats! It will make you feel like it really is your birthday! When I made my first one, I pretty much just gobbled it down like it was the last supper. I hope no one was watching. I’m sure it wasn’t a pretty sight, but I thoroughly enjoyed myself.
I’ve been creating, and as I stated before…’gobbling’ down a lot of over the past year, and this is definitely another favorite that I added to the recipe list on this blog. It’s a keeper!
I’m always looking for more yummy ways to incorporate protein into my day, because protein is an extremely vital nutrient in the body. From vegan to weight management to chronic disease management – no matter your health goals or dietary needs, there is a high-quality protein out there for you.
The vanilla theme is definitely going on and this tastes a lot like vanilla wedding cake, and who doesn’t love wedding cake, especially with sprinkles? ♥ *swoon* ♥
