Best Blueberry Protein Balls

Spread the love

If you are craving something naturally sweet, soft, and satisfying – without chocolate stealing the spotlight – these Best Blueberry Protein Balls are about to become your new go-to. They are fresh, fruity, lightly chewy, and packed with nourishing ingredients that support your energy instead of draining it.

This is Blended Bites style at its best: simple whole foods, no baking, no complicated steps – just wholesome ingredients blended into delicious little bites you can keep in the fridge for the week.

And the best part? The blueberries shine.

Why Blueberries Work So Beautifully in Protein Balls

Blueberries bring a natural sweetness with a subtle tart edge that keeps things interesting. Whether you use dried blueberries for a chewy texture or freeze-dried blueberries for an intense pop of flavour and colour, they add brightness that makes these protein balls feel lighter and fresher than heavier dessert-style bites.

Unlike chocolate-based snacks, these feel clean and uplifting = perfect for mornings, afternoon pick-me-ups, or post-workout refuelling.

Blueberries are also known for their antioxidant content, which makes them a lovely addition to a nourishing snack. But here at Blended Bites, we focus just as much on flavour as function – and these absolutely deliver both.

The Texture: Soft, Slightly Chewy, Perfectly Balanced

The base of these protein balls combines oats, dates for healthy sweetness and nut butter to create that soft, dough-like texture we all love. The blueberries fold through beautifully, giving little bursts of fruity sweetness in every bite.

There is no chocolate coating here – and honestly, you won’t miss it. These stand confidently on their own with their creamy, fruity flavour and gentle sweetness. A pinch of sea salt enhances the blueberries and keeps the flavour from becoming flat. It’s a small detail that makes a big difference.

Protein That Actually Tastes Good

We are keeping the protein clean and simple. A good-quality vanilla protein powder blends seamlessly into the mix, complementing the blueberries without overpowering them. Combined with nut butter and oats, these bites become:

Balanced in protein and healthy fats
Steady in energy release
Satisfying enough to curb sweet cravings
Easy to grab on busy days

They are ideal for meal prep, lunchboxes, gym bags, or those moments when you want something sweet but still aligned with your wellness goals.

Why No Chocolate?

As much as we love chocolate (and we do), sometimes it’s refreshing to let other flavours shine. These blueberry protein balls are lighter, brighter, and perfect for those days when you want something fruity rather than rich.

They also feel more “everyday snack” than “dessert,” which makes them incredibly versatile.

Make Them Your Own

You can customise these easily:
Add shredded coconut for texture
Mix in hemp or chia seeds for extra protein and fibre
Swap almond butter for cashew butter
Add lemon zest for a blueberry-lemon twist
Roll in crushed freeze-dried blueberries for extra colour
They are flexible, forgiving, and beautifully simple.

Once you make a batch, you will see why these are called the best. They are soft, naturally sweet, and satisfying – without being heavy. 💥

Ingredients

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup dates, soaked 30 minutes and drained
  • 1/2 cup almond butter (or cashew butter)
  • 1/2 cup dried blueberries (or crushed freeze-dried blueberries)
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • 1-2 tablespoons almond milk (if needed for texture)
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • Optional: ½ teaspoon lemon zest

Instructions

  • Place all ingredients except dried blueberries and lemon zest if using in a food processor and process until well combined. If mixture feels too dry, add 1 tablespoon almond milk at a time until it holds together when pressed.
Be careful not to over process as its nice to have texture variance and different sized “bits” in your snack balls.
Gently fold in the dried blueberries and lemon zest (if using).
Scoop and roll into 12-14 small balls using your hands.
Place in the fridge for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
Keep in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week or freezer for up to 3 months.
