Love tiramisu? Imagine those delicious coffee and cocoa flavours wrapped into a little bite-sized treat, with a rich chocolatey centre and a smooth white chocolate coating. Sounds tempting, doesn’t it?
These Tiramisu Protein Balls are a fun, no-bake twist on the much-loved Italian dessert. They are soft and fudgy inside, with a delicious cocoa and coffee flavour, while the creamy white chocolate coating adds a sweet finishing touch. Every bite gives you that lovely contrast between rich chocolate, aromatic coffee and sweet white chocolate.
And because we are making them the Blended Bites way, we are adding protein powder and wholesome ingredients to create a treat that is as satisfying as it is delicious. No oven, no complicated techniques and no need to miss out on dessert!
☕ What Makes These Tiramisu Protein Balls Special?
Traditional tiramisu combines coffee-soaked biscuits, creamy mascarpone and a dusting of cocoa. These little protein balls capture the spirit of those classic flavours in a convenient bite-sized treat.
The centre is made with ingredients such as dates, nut butter, cocoa powder, coffee and protein powder. Together, they create a soft, fudgy mixture that is easy to roll into balls. The cocoa provides that deep chocolate flavour, while coffee brings the unmistakable tiramisu taste. Vanilla helps round out the flavours, and the protein powder makes these more substantial than an ordinary chocolate bite.
Then comes the coating!
A layer of melted white chocolate surrounds each ball, creating a delicate shell that contrasts beautifully with the dark cocoa centre. Once chilled, the coating firms up, giving you a satisfying little snap before you reach the soft filling. For an extra tiramisu-inspired finish, you can sprinkle a little cocoa powder over the white chocolate or drizzle the balls with melted dark chocolate.
🍫 The Secret Is in the Cocoa Centre
The heart of these protein balls is a rich, chocolatey mixture that should be soft enough to bite into but firm enough to hold its shape.
Cocoa powder is essential because it gives the centre that dark, indulgent chocolate flavour. Instant espresso powder or strong brewed coffee adds depth, creating the familiar taste of tiramisu without overpowering the chocolate.
Dates are particularly useful in no-bake recipes because their sticky texture helps bind ingredients together while adding natural sweetness. Nut butter can contribute creaminess and richness, while protein powder helps boost the protein content. Vanilla extract and a tiny pinch of salt bring all those flavours together.
The important thing is to find the right consistency. If the mixture feels too dry or crumbly, add a small amount of nut butter, milk or water. If it is too sticky to roll, chill it briefly or add a little more cocoa powder or protein powder.
You will soon have a batch of delicious little centres ready for their white chocolate makeover!
💪 Why Add Protein Powder?
Protein is an essential nutrient that helps maintain and repair body tissues, including muscles. Including protein in snacks can also help make them more satisfying. Protein powder is a convenient addition to homemade treats because it boosts protein while allowing you to experiment with different flavours.
Vanilla protein powder works particularly well in these Tiramisu Protein Balls because it complements the coffee and cocoa without competing with them. Chocolate protein powder is another delicious option if you prefer an even richer centre.
You can use whey or a suitable plant-based protein powder, depending on your preference. Keep in mind that different protein powders absorb moisture differently, so you may need to adjust the mixture slightly to achieve the perfect rollable consistency.
And remember, these are still treats to enjoy as part of a varied, nourishing diet -not a replacement for balanced meals.
🤍 The White Chocolate Coating
The white chocolate coating is what makes these little treats feel extra special. Simply melt white chocolate gently until smooth, then allow it to cool slightly so it is easy to work with without being too hot. Dip each chilled protein ball into the chocolate, turning it to coat all sides, and lift it out with a fork. Let the excess chocolate drip away before placing the ball on baking paper.
Refrigerate until the coating is firm, then finish with a light dusting of cocoa powder, a coffee bean-inspired decoration made from dark chocolate, or a delicate dark chocolate drizzle. For a slightly less-sweet finish, you can use a mixture of white and dark chocolate for the coating.
🧊 Tips for Perfect Protein Balls
Chill before dipping. Firm centres are much easier to coat, and they’re less likely to fall apart in the melted chocolate.
Use gentle heat. White chocolate can scorch or seize if overheated, so melt it slowly, stirring regularly.
Work in batches. Keep the remaining balls chilled while you coat a few at a time.
Make them ahead. These treats are ideal for preparing in advance and storing in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
You can also freeze them for longer storage. Allow frozen balls to soften slightly in the refrigerator before serving for the best texture.
💚 The Blended Bites Approach
At Blended Bites, we believe in Addition Eating – adding more nourishing ingredients rather than constantly focusing on what you need to give up.
These Tiramisu Protein Balls fit that philosophy perfectly. They bring together cocoa, coffee, protein powder and other simple ingredients to create a homemade treat inspired by a much-loved dessert.
Enjoy one with your afternoon coffee, serve them on a dessert platter, or keep a few in the fridge for those moments when you fancy something sweet. They are rich, creamy, chocolatey and beautifully finished with white chocolate.
Because healthy treats should still feel like treats – and a little taste of tiramisu makes any day sweeter! ☕🍫🤍

If it feels too sticky, add a little extra almond flour or cocoa powder.Roll the mixture into 12 even-sized balls and place them on a baking-paper-lined tray. Refrigerate for 20–30 minutes to firm up.

Lift it out with a fork, allow the excess chocolate to drip off, then place it back on the lined tray. Before the coating sets, add a light dusting of cocoa powder or drizzle with melted dark chocolate if desired. Refrigerate for 15–20 minutes, or until the coating is firm.Tips for Delicious Tiramisu Protein BallsChoose your protein powder carefully: Vanilla gives a classic tiramisu flavour, while chocolate creates a richer centre.
