Chocolate Tahini Protein Brownies

Chocolate Tahini Protein Brownies

Fudgy, rich, chocolate-covered and packed with protein – with absolutely no baking required

If you love brownies but don’t always want to turn on the oven, these Chocolate Tahini Protein Brownies are going to be right up your street. They are dense, fudgy, deeply chocolatey and finished with a smooth layer of dark chocolate that gives them that irresistible little snap when you bite in.

And the best part? They are no bake!

This recipe uses dates, tahini (sesame seed paste), cocoa and a chocolate coating to create a rich no-bake brownie. I have given that idea a Blended Bites makeover by adding protein powder and adjusting the mixture to create a satisfying, protein-rich treat. It is exactly the kind of recipe I love: simple ingredients, minimal preparation and something that tastes like a proper chocolate dessert.

Why You Will Love These Brownies

The secret to the fudgy texture is Medjool dates. Dates are naturally sticky and wonderfully caramel-like, which makes them perfect for no-bake recipes. When blended with tahini and cocoa, they create a thick chocolate mixture that is surprisingly similar to a soft brownie batter.

Tahini adds creaminess and healthy fats while giving the brownies a subtle nutty flavour. Don’t worry if you are not a huge tahini fan – the cocoa and chocolate coating mellow its flavour beautifully.

Then comes the important Blended Bites addition: protein powder.

Adding protein powder transforms these from simply a delicious chocolate treat into a more satisfying snack. Vanilla or chocolate protein powder both work well. Chocolate gives you an even more intense brownie flavour, while vanilla creates a lovely contrast with the dark chocolate.

A pinch of salt is also important. It might seem like a tiny ingredient, but salt enhances the chocolate flavour and helps balance the natural sweetness of the dates.

And then there is the chocolate coating.

You could absolutely eat these brownies straight from the pan, but dipping or coating them in melted dark chocolate takes them to another level. The soft, fudgy brownie centre combined with the crisp chocolate shell is seriously good.

Simple Ingredients, Big Chocolate Flavour

One of my favourite things about these brownies is that you do not need a long list of ingredients. Dates provide sweetness and binding. Tahini provides creaminess. Cocoa provides the chocolate. Protein powder adds a protein boost. Dark chocolate provides that final indulgent finish.

That’s it. No flour. No eggs. No butter. No oven.

Soft dates work best, while drier dates may need soaking first. If your dates are not particularly soft and sticky, simply soak them in hot water for about 10 minutes, then drain and pat them dry before blending.

Perfect For Chocolate Cravings

These brownies are wonderful when you need something sweet in the afternoon, but they are also substantial enough to work as a post-workout snack or an easy grab-and-go treat. I like cutting them into smaller squares because they are rich and satisfying. Keep a container in the fridge and yo will always have a delicious chocolate treat waiting for you.

You can also customise them. Try adding a little orange zest for a chocolate-orange version, a pinch of espresso powder for extra chocolate depth, or sprinkle chopped nuts over the chocolate coating before it sets.

But honestly, sometimes simple is best.

Dates. Tahini. Cocoa. Protein. Chocolate.

That is one seriously good brownie. 🤎

I love that no-bake chocolate desserts are the perfect way to satisfy a sweet craving without turning on the oven. From quick, 2-3 ingredient truffles to elegant layered cakes, these treats rely on chilling rather than baking to set into rich, fudgy masterworks.

Ingredients

Brownie Base

  • 1 1/4 cups Medjool dates, pitted
  • 1/2 cup runny tahini (sesame seed paste)
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 scoops chocolate or vanilla protein powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1-2 tablespoons water, only if needed

Chocolate Coating

  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips or dark chocolate chopped
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil

Instructions

  • Line a 7 x 5-inch loaf pan or dish with parchment paper on the bottom and sides leaving some overhanging to act as a handle to get the brownies out easier for cutting.
If your dates are dry, soak them in hot water for 10 minutes and drain.
Add the dates and tahini to a food processor. Blend until the mixture is smooth and sticky.
Add the cocoa powder, protein powder, vanilla and salt. Blend again until everything is thoroughly combined and you have a thick, fudgy mixture.
If the mixture is too dry to blend, add water one teaspoon at a time. You want a thick brownie dough rather than a wet mixture.
Transfer the mixture to the prepared pan. Press it down evenly using the back of a spoon or your fingers.
Place in the freezer for 30–45 minutes, until firm enough to slice.
Remove from the pan and cut into 8–10 brownie squares.

Chocolate Coating

  • Place chocolate chips and coconut oil in small dish and microwave with 20 second bursts stirring between each one until melted and smooth.
Or use double boiler method - (pot of boiling water with a bowl resting on top) melt the chocolate chips and the coconut oil together.
Dip each brownie into the melted chocolate, or spoon the chocolate over the top for an easier option.
Place on baking paper and refrigerate until the chocolate has completely set.
Store in an airtight container and enjoy whenever your chocolate cravings strike!
Store in the refrigerator for up to 5 days, or freeze for up to 2 months. Allow frozen brownies to soften for a few minutes before eating.
