Creamy, Chocolate-Dipped & Naturally Sweet
If you love ice cream but want something a little simpler, more nourishing, and naturally sweet, these Banana Nice Cream Protein Bites are going to be a freezer favourite. Made with frozen bananas, creamy nut butter, and protein powder, these little bites have the luscious texture of soft-serve ice cream without needing an ice cream maker. Then they are dipped in melted chocolate for a crisp chocolate shell that makes every bite feel wonderfully indulgent.
Think banana ice cream meets a chocolate-covered frozen treat – with a protein-packed Blended Bites twist.
At Blended Bites, we believe healthy eating should be about addition rather than restriction. Instead of taking away the foods you enjoy, we love finding ways to add more nourishing ingredients while keeping all the flavour and fun. These bites are a perfect example.
Why Bananas Make Amazing Nice Cream
Frozen bananas are one of the simplest ways to create a creamy frozen dessert. When ripe bananas are frozen and blended, they transform into a smooth, thick mixture with a consistency remarkably similar to soft-serve ice cream. Their natural sweetness means you don’t need much added sweetener, especially if your bananas are nicely ripe.
Bananas also provide fibre and potassium, making them a delicious way to add fruit to a dessert. The secret is to use ripe bananas. The more naturally sweet and spotty they are before freezing, the more delicious your nice cream will be. Slice them before freezing so your blender or food processor doesn’t have to work too hard.
Adding Protein Makes Them More Satisfying
Traditional nice cream is delicious, but adding protein powder gives these bites a nutritional boost while making them more satisfying. Protein helps support muscle maintenance and recovery and contributes to feelings of fullness. That is why protein-rich snacks can be such a useful addition to your day.
Here, vanilla protein powder blends beautifully with the banana and nut butter, creating a creamy, almost banana-bread-like flavour.
Chocolate protein powder works too if you want to take the chocolate experience even further.
The nut butter adds another important element. Peanut butter creates an irresistible banana-and-peanut-butter combination, while almond or cashew butter gives the bites a slightly more delicate flavour. Nut butter also adds healthy fats and helps create a rich, creamy texture.
The Chocolate Shell
You could stop at the banana nice cream bites and enjoy them straight from the freezer. But dipping them in chocolate?
That is where things get really good. Melted dark chocolate forms a crisp shell around the frozen banana centre. When you bite through the chocolate, you get that satisfying snap followed by creamy, cold banana nice cream. It’s a texture combination that is hard to resist.
You can also customise the coating. Use milk chocolate for a sweeter treat, white chocolate for a banana cream flavour, or dark chocolate with a pinch of flaky sea salt for something more sophisticated.
Add chopped peanuts, almonds, toasted coconut, cacao nibs, or freeze-dried strawberries before the chocolate sets.
Perfect for the Freezer
One of the best things about these bites is how convenient they are.
Make a batch, keep them in an airtight container, and you will always have a healthy frozen dessert ready when a craving hits.
They are perfect for:
Afternoon snacks
After-dinner desserts
Post-workout treats
Hot summer days
Lunchbox treats
Sweet cravings
A quick bite with coffee
Because they are bite-sized, you can enjoy one or two depending on how hungry you are.
That is another part of the Blended Bites philosophy – we are not about rigid rules. We are about listening to your body and choosing foods that satisfy you.
Endless Variations
Once you have made the basic banana version, there are plenty of ways to change things up.
For Chocolate Banana, use chocolate protein powder and dip in dark chocolate.
For Peanut Butter Banana, use peanut butter and top the chocolate coating with chopped peanuts.
For Almond Joy, use almond butter, add shredded coconut, and coat with dark chocolate.
For Strawberry Banana, blend a few freeze-dried strawberries into the nice cream.
For Banana Coconut, use coconut butter and sprinkle toasted coconut over the chocolate.
You could even add cinnamon, vanilla, espresso powder, or cacao nibs to the banana mixture.
The possibilities are endless.
These Banana Nice Cream Protein Bites are proof that simple ingredients can create something incredibly delicious. Creamy frozen banana, rich nut butter, protein and crisp chocolate come together in a treat that is easy enough for everyday snacking but indulgent enough to feel like dessert.
