If you are looking for a healthy frozen treat that tastes like a cross between a cheesecake, a peanut butter cup and frozen yogurt, you are going to fall in love with these Frozen Yogurt Protein Cups. When frozen, it develops a texture that is remarkably similar to frozen cheesecake, especially when combined with nut butter and protein powder.
Full-fat Greek yogurt creates the richest texture, but low-fat versions work beautifully too if that is your preference. For a dairy-free version, simply use a thick coconut or almond yogurt.
Dates: Nature’s Caramel
If you have followed Blended Bites for a while, you will know we absolutely love dates. Their rich caramel flavour makes them one of the best natural sweeteners for healthy desserts.
In these protein cups, chopped dates create little pockets of sweetness throughout the creamy filling, adding both flavour and texture without relying on refined sugar. They are also packed with fibre, potassium and antioxidants, making them far more nutritious than many processed sweeteners. If your dates are a little firm, soak them in warm water for 10 minutes before chopping.
Make Them Your Own
These frozen cups are wonderfully versatile.
Swap peanut butter for almond, cashew or sunflower seed butter.
Use vanilla or chocolate protein powder depending on the flavour you are after.
Add chopped roasted nuts for crunch, stir in mini chocolate chips, or sprinkle shredded coconut over the melted chocolate before it sets.
You can even finish them with flaky sea salt for that irresistible sweet-and-salty combination.
Every batch can be a little different, which means you will never get bored.
Perfect for Meal Prep
One of the biggest advantages of freezer treats is convenience. Spend just 20 minutes making a batch and you will have healthy desserts ready whenever cravings strike.
They are ideal after workouts, as an afternoon snack, packed into lunchboxes with an ice pack or served after dinner instead of ice cream. Because each cup is individually portioned, they are easy to enjoy without overthinking serving sizes.
Healthy Treats That Truly Satisfy
The best healthy desserts are the ones that do not feel like healthy desserts at all.
These Frozen Yogurt Protein Cups are creamy, chocolatey, naturally sweet and wonderfully satisfying. Every bite delivers smooth yogurt, rich nut butter, chewy dates and crisp dark chocolate – a combination that is hard to beat. They are exactly the kind of recipe that makes healthy eating feel easy because you are never sacrificing flavour.
That is what Blended Bites is all about.
