A creamy, dreamy smoothie that feels like a treat but fuels your day. This recipe is for one. All for you. No need to share.
If you love smoothies that look as beautiful as they taste, the Purple Cloud Protein Smoothie is about to become your new favourite blend. Soft lavender-purple tones, a creamy texture, and a balanced protein boost make this smoothie feel indulgent while still supporting steady energy and nourishment. It’s light, fluffy, naturally sweet, and perfect for breakfast, post-workout recovery, or a calming afternoon reset.
In true Blended Bites – style, this smoothie focuses on adding nourishing ingredients rather than restricting flavour. The goal isn’t to make something that tastes “healthy”- it’s to create something delicious first, while quietly delivering protein, fibre, and antioxidants your body will appreciate.
The beautiful purple colour comes from antioxidant-rich ingredients like blueberries, blackberries, or dragon fruit powder. These fruits are naturally high in polyphenols, which support cellular health and help combat oxidative stress. They also provide a gentle sweetness without the need for refined sugars, making this smoothie satisfying without being overly heavy.
One of the secrets behind the “cloud-like” texture is the combination of frozen banana and creamy milk. Banana adds natural sweetness and thickness, while also helping create that fluffy, almost mousse-like consistency when blended properly. Using frozen fruit is key – it gives the smoothie body and structure, transforming it from a simple drink into something that feels more like a spoonable dessert.
Protein is what elevates this smoothie from a snack to a balanced mini-meal. Adding a scoop of protein powder supports muscle recovery, hormone balance, and long-lasting fullness. Whether you prefer whey isolate, collagen peptides, or a plant-based blend, protein helps stabilise blood sugar and keeps you energised long after you finish your glass.
To enhance the creamy “cloud-like” effect, yogurt or coconut cream can be dabbed around the inside of the glass before pouring in the smoothie. This adds richness without heaviness and pairs beautifully with the berry flavours. Vanilla and a touch of maple syrup (optional) round out the flavour profile, creating a smoothie that tastes like a berry dessert but functions like a nourishing wellness blend.
Another reason this recipe works so well is its flexibility. You can make it dairy-free, vegan, or extra high-protein depending on your goals. Add hemp or chia seeds for protein and fibre, collagen for skin support, or even a pinch of blue spirulina powder for a deeper purple hue. It’s a smoothie that adapts to your lifestyle while keeping that signature soft, dreamy texture.
The Purple Cloud Protein Smoothie is perfect for slow mornings, creative afternoons, or anytime you want something comforting and beautiful in a glass. It’s proof that nourishing recipes don’t need to be complicated – they just need the right balance of flavour, texture, and ingredients that help you feel your best. ✨
