Because these date shakes are super simple and get their natural caramel flavor from, well, dates. Aka nature’s straight up candy. Dates are having a moment right now, and I am so glad – because I LOVE dates. They are sweet, chewy, caramel-y, and honestly kind of magical.

Dates are a super fruit! They are a great source of nutrients and vitamins such as potassium, magnesium, vitamins B6 and K, calcium and iron, which contribute to various health benefits. They also provide a natural energy boost and are low on the glycemic index so your blood sugar won’t spike when eating them. They are little morsels of natural sugar and a great alternative to refined sugars. You don’t need many dates to make something sweet!

The dried fruit has a caramel-like sweetness that can also help reduce cravings for sugary snacks. I’m always on the hunt though for creative ways to dress up my dates, and I just knew these bars would be delicious! If you haven’t cooked with dates yet, you have so many delicious uses just waiting to be discovered!

This healthy Date Shake is creamy, sweet, and super easy to make. It’s made with dates, frozen banana, cashew butter, and coconut milk – no ice cream or added sugar needed. A scoop of protein powder makes it more filling, and a little cinnamon and a small pinch of salt makes a big difference enhancing the sweetness and adding a little contrast to the creamy, rich flavors.

This healthy Date Shake (aka date smoothie) is one of my all-time favorite recipes. It’s thick, creamy, just the right amount of sweet, and made with simple ingredients that I always seem to have around. The dates give it that deep, rich flavor, the frozen banana makes it extra frosty and ice cream like, and the cashew butter and hint of cinnamon brings everything together. I like to throw in a scoop of protein powder to make it more filling so I stay full and satisfied for hours.

Want to switch it up? Here are some fun ideas to put your own twist on this shake.

Chocolate Date Shake: Add 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder or use chocolate protein powder for a rich, chocolatey version.
Mocha Date Shake: Add a shot of espresso or ½ teaspoon of instant coffee for a coffee-flavored boost.
Green Date Shake: Add a handful of spinach for extra nutrients. It won’t affect the taste much, but it’ll boost your greens intake.

It takes just a few minutes to blend up, which is perfect on busy mornings or when I need a quick snack. My grandkids are obsessed with it too – they think it’s a milkshake, and honestly, I’m not correcting them.
