Triple Berry Protein Fluff

Protein fluff recipes have been making the rounds in the fitness community for years, a fave amongst bodybuilders and fitness competitors. It is a light and airy dessert that resembles a fluffy cloud, created by incorporating protein powder and frozen fruits in a food processor.
What makes it so special is that by blending just a few ingredients, you create what amounts to ice cream! It’s delicious, quite high in volume, calorie friendly, rather low in both fat and carbohydrates –making it a satiating stand-alone dessert, breakfast or any time snack.
This dessert is one of my go to favorites, this creation truly is magical. You will be amazed when you see how much volume you get from so little ingredients. If you haven’t tried it, you really must.
Imagine a cross between cool whip and ice cream texture wise and the “fluff” base is so low calorie you can have fun adding toppings.
And best of all? The recipe requires only 4 ingredients and for those people still counting calories, the entire batch has just 240 calories, 2g fat, and 27g protein!
It’s also a great topping for things like pancakes or cheesecakes!  And the best part is with just a few ingredients, you can fill an entire salad bowl and find yourself sitting down with a soup spoon eating what looks like a calorific bomb of frozen decadence.
Warning: Once you try it, you can't stop making it. Your taste buds will LOVE it. It’s a healthy meal or snack to die for!
Protein fluff's filling and low-calorie nature is precisely what makes it a staple among many fitness people and dieters. It is also extremely easy to make and requires just three basic ingredients: milk, protein powder, fruit or even vegetables - pretty much the same stuff you use in a protein shake or smoothie.
Protein Fluff truly is the discovery of the century! From a few ingredients, you conjure up a super airy mousse. The amount will also be 2-3 times as much as you started with, so this recipe is just magical!
Not only is it easy to whip up when you are feeling “munchy” but after-dinner is when the biggest cravings for something sweet or yummy occur. Making this a “fix-all” protein recipe to instantly quell those cravings is a no brainer.

Servings 1

Ingredients

  • 1 small banana, sliced, frozen
  • 1 cup berries, frozen, any mix of blueberries, raspberries, strawberries
  • 1 scoop flavored whey protein powder *see note below
  • 1/4 cup hemp milk or water

Toppings

  • Whipped coconut cream – store bought or recipe below in notes
  • Chopped nuts or berries
  • Seeds - hemp, pumpkin, sunflower, chia, sesame
  • Drizzle of nut butter

Instructions

  • In a food processor or high speed blender, combine the frozen banana slices, berries, protein powder, hemp milk and any flavored extracts or spices of your choice.
Blend the ingredients in the food processor for at least 5 minutes or until it gains volume and is smooth, creamy, and resembles the texture of fluffy soft-serve ice cream.
Before serving spoon a dollop of whipped coconut cream on top for an extra nutritious and indulgent kick (recipe below in notes) or top with your favorite toppings.
    * Note about protein powder:
You will need to use a whey protein powder. Most vegetarian and vegan protein powders do not fluff, so please don't try to fluff your pea protein, brown rice protein, or hemp protein.
Although I do prefer protein powder without flavorings, you cannot really get away with a plain protein powder in this particular recipe.
It is easier to make the fluff if the whey protein contains xantham gum (which flavored ones do). You do need a flavored protein powder.
If you do wish to use an unflavoured protein powder you can add xantham gum – ½ teaspoon per serving which will make your protein fluff stay fluffier longer and gain a thicker consistency. Using xanthan gum is optional.
To turn it into proper fluff though, whisk it for a good 5-8 minutes. That's where the magic happens. Your ice cream turns into full-blown fluff.
But regardless of how fluffy you get it, it will still be delicious.
