I’m not gonna lie, I’m usually quite sceptical of the viral food trends on social media. Balsamic vinegar in sparking water? Butter in coffee? That weird pink pickle wrapped in candy thing on TikTok? Errrr no thank you. But frozen banana yogurt bark? I’m intrigued. Especially after its been called “the best high protein dessert”.
Having a cup of coffee and an afternoon sweet snack helps me get through the day when I’m busy. And when I can find something that doubles as a high-protein snack and delicious dessert? That is a WIN. This recipe is a healthy snack that my whole family loves.
The key to this sweet snack is freezing the banana slices so they form the base of the clusters. The next layer is yogurt mixed with cashew butter, but you could swap in your favorite nut butter for an equally delicious treat. Be sure to have any topping ready to go as soon as you add the chocolate layer – it hardens quickly since everything is frozen.
To add a healthy crunch you could top your clusters with iron and magnesium-rich cacao nibs, crushed peanuts, plus some flaky sea salt. This is the most perfect fruity, sweet and salty frozen treat that tastes just as delicious as described on the internet.
These frozen banana clusters double as both a healthy snack and delicious dessert, I can’t keep my hands out of the freezer!

Frozen Chocolate Banana Protein Clusters
Ingredients
- 2 bananas
- 1 cup thick Greek-style yogurt
- 1/4 cup cashew (or any other nut or seed) butter
- 1 scoop protein or collagen peptides powder, plain or vanilla
Chocolate Topping
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil
Toppings Optional
- Chopped nuts
- Fresh or dried fruit
- Flaky sea salt
- Seeds like hemp or sesame
- Granola
Instructions
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or use a silicone baking mat. This will prevent the banana from sticking to the sheet and make for easy removal later.Cut up bananas into 1/4 - 1/2 inch slices and on the parchment paper arrange them in 6 (more or less) small clusters, sort of in the shape of a flower using 4 - 6 slices of banana for each one. You can make them as big or as small as you like. Try and get them touching each other so they make a solid base with the toppings you will be placing on top.In a small bowl, mix the yogurt, cashew butter, protein powder and vanilla extract until well combined. Spread the yogurt mixture evenly on each banana cluster. Freeze for 1-2 hours.
Chocolate Topping
- Place chocolate chips and coconut oil in small dish and microwave with 20 second bursts stirring between each one until melted and smooth.Or use double boiler method - (pot of boiling water with a bowl resting on top) melt the chocolate chips and the coconut oil together.Once the chocolate is melted, remove the clusters from the freezer and place a dollop of chocolate on top each one and spread out with the back of a spoon.Add desired toppings and gently push in while the chocolate is wet so it sticks.Place them back in the freezer until the chocolate hardens (5-10 min is all you need) and enjoy!
