Choc-Orange Jaffa Smoothie

A super healthy smoothie that is like sunshine in a glass, and makes a perfect breakfast, lunch or snack! If you love the taste of chocolate and orange together as much as I do, you wil llove this smoothie! Its the perfect combination of flavors!
Citrusy and chocolatey, this scrumptious smoothie is quick and easy to make as a healthy breakfast that tastes more like a dessert.
This shockingly simple smoothie is my current post-workout obsession. Couch + feet up + this smoothie + a spoonful of peanut butter (which turns into three spoonfuls of peanut butter) is how I unwind from a gym workout these days.
This smoothie is the creamiest of creamy and that is because of the frozen banana. Seriously, if you want a creamy smoothie that is thick enough to eat with a spoon, then frozen banana is your answer.
Typically smoothie recipes call for ice to thicken the texture, but I find ice waters it down. The frozen banana gets the job done without giving the smoothie a slushy texture. I love using them in my smoothies and smoothie bowls.
Frozen banana turns into a delicious vanilla tasting“soft serve” when blended with vanilla extract and a splash of milk. Add in your orange and you cannot taste the banana under the vanilla and orange.
Creamy, cool, citrusy, lip-smackin’ protein-packed sweetness. Vitamin C has never tasted so good and the chocolatey cocoa and a touch of vanilla makes this smoothie so irresistible!
Sometimes I add a little orange zest to up the ante. That’s optional! And for an added nutritious punch, try adding a handful of greens like kale or spinach to the smoothie.
Get the energy boost you need from this delicious treat with over 20 grams of protein. If you are looking to satisfy a creamsicle craving in a healthier way – you need to give this choco-orange smoothie recipe a try!
Top with sugar free whipped coconut cream (recipe below in notes) and some dark chocolate shavings if you are feeling fancy. Then slurp through a straw or eat it with a spoon as its likely thick enough.
Try not to tell everyone around you how good it is, or they will want some.
Transformation Tip: Replace your biggest sweet vice with this fabulous chocolate orange smoothie and come back in a couple months to tell me how great you feel.
I can’t encourage you enough on this one - if you only make one change this year, make it this one. You will be soooo glad you did!  😊

Servings 1

Ingredients

  • 1 banana, sliced, frozen
  • 1 orange, peeled, sliced
  • 2 dates
  • 1 tablespoon peanut or almond butter
  • 1 scoop protein or collagen powder
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa or cacao powder (or to taste)
  • Splash milk of choice

  • Dollop of whipped coconut cream - recipe below in notes
  • Orange zest
  • Chopped dark chocolate
  • Cacao nibs
  • Coconut shreds

  • Blend the smoothie ingredients until creamy and well-combined. Note, liquid should not be necessary since the juice from the orange is enough to get things going in the blender. If you find that your orange isn't juicy enough, add a splash of milk.
Taste, and adjust the ingredients if you wish.
Pour into a glass, then sprinkle on the toppings.
