Creamy, frozen banana and nut butter, yogurt, protein clusters enrobed in smooth chocolate. These small but mighty treats are like a mini ice cream bar, but much simpler and so much healthier. They are so easy to make with only a handful of ingredients and zero baking, nothing not to love!
I have seen the viral yogurt cluster trend everywhere on my social media, and since I have a passion for healthy snacks, I had to try my own take on it.
This recipe, is very similar to my frozen yogurt bark, but instead of spreading everything on a baking sheet in one big piece, the recipe is shaped in clusters and topped with layers of yumminess.
Frozen banana slices arranged in a little cluster, then topped with a protein, yogurt, nut butter mixture, frozen then topped with melted chocolate and chopped nuts/or a sprinkling of sea salt. Oh my!
You can also let your taste buds run wild with fun mix-ins and toppings. Colourful sprinkles would add a special touch for a birthday party for example.
The contrast of the hard, chocolate snap to the creamy, dreamy, soft centre is just the best. And I love when I find a snack that is healthy AND delicious, and these certainly are that.
Oh and did I mention they only have six ingredients?! Plus, they are a good snack option for kids, giving them essential nutrients and protein for an energy kick mid-afternoon. Just be sure to leave some clusters without the sea salt sprinkle for them.
These are such a yummy snack to keep stashed away in the freezer, and they completely satisfy any “sweet-tooth” cravings! My sister, who has really been limiting her sugar intake, is especially in love with these. The combination of sweet creamy banana, dark chocolate, and vanilla is a healthier way to satisfy those chocolate cravings!

Here’s what you need to make these chocolate covered banana bites:
Ripe bananas
Yogurt – Greek is best, as its thick and creamy and will hold the shape better
Nut or seed butter – peanut, cashew, almond or tahini (sesame seed paste)
Protein or collagen powder (infused for healthy skin, hair and nails)
Chocolate chips – dark, milk or white, or a mix
Coconut oil (makes the chocolate runnier and easier to work with)

Banana Nut Yogurt Clusters
Ingredients
- 2-3 medium ripe bananas
- 1 cup Greek yogurt or any other thick yogurt
- 1-2 scoops protein or collagen powder
- 2 tablespoons nut butter - peanut, almond, cashew or tahini (sesame seed paste)
Chocolate Topping
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil
Toppings Optional
- Crushed peanuts or toppings of choice
- Sprinkle of sea salt
Instructions
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, set aside.Peel bananas and cut into slices ¼-½-inches thick. Arrange into 6-8 flower like clusters on the baking paper. Use 4 -5 slices of banana for each one making sure they touch each other to create a solid base for the rest of the ingredients to go on top.In a small bowl, mix together the yogurt, nut butter and protein powder.Spread the protein yoghurt mixture on top the banana clusters spreading it out over the slices and freeze for 1-2 hours.
Chocolate Topping
- Place chocolate chips and coconut oil in small dish and microwave at 50% power with 30 second bursts stirring between each one until melted and smooth.Or use double boiler method - (pot of boiling water with a bowl resting on top) melt the chocolate chips and the coconut oil together.Once melted coat the tops of each cluster with 1-2 tablespoons chocolate spreading out evenly with the back of a spoon and top with nuts and a sprinkle of sea salt. (Just divide the chocolate up between the clusters).Place back in the freezer to set.If you aren’t going to be eating them all straight away, you will need to take them out of the freezer 20 minutes before you are ready to eat so they can defrost a little on the inside. You want them to be just-frozen and easily bitten into instead of being ice-block hard.Once set, you can store yogurt clusters in a sealable food bag or air-tight container in the freezer for up to 3 monthsNotes:Nothing here needs to be perfect. These are clusters, so no pressure to make each cluster look the same! Just have fun with these. You can eat them right after covering them in chocolate, or keep them stashed away in the freezer for easy snacking! My best tip is to try not to make the clusters too big, just 4-5 banana slices per cluster is ideal. I know it’s tempting, but if you pile these too high, things just get messy and hard to eat.
