Tiramisu Protein Bars

Tiramisu Protein Bars

Four Layers Of Coffee, Vanilla & Chocolate

Love tiramisu? Imagine all those delicious coffee, creamy vanilla and rich chocolate flavours transformed into a four-layer no-bake protein bar!

These Tiramisu Protein Bars are a little slice of dessert heaven. They start with a chewy almond, oat and date base, followed by a creamy coffee protein layer, a smooth vanilla cashew layer and a rich chocolate ganache topping. Every bite brings together a little crunch, a little creaminess and plenty of indulgent tiramisu flavour.

And the best part? There is no baking involved!

At Blended Bites, we believe healthy treats should taste like the desserts you love. Rather than giving up your favourite flavours, we like to find creative ways to combine them with nourishing ingredients. These bars are a perfect example, using almonds, oats, dates, cashews, coconut milk and protein powder to create a delicious homemade treat.

β˜• What Makes These Tiramisu Protein Bars Special?

Traditional tiramisu is famous for its layers of coffee-soaked biscuits, creamy filling and chocolate or cocoa finish. These bars take inspiration from those classic flavours and give them a fun, no-bake makeover.

Instead of biscuits, we are using a wholesome base made from almonds, oats and dates. It has a lovely chewy texture and provides a sturdy foundation for the layers above. The coffee layer is where the tiramisu magic begins. Cashews blend with coconut milk, coffee and protein powder to create a smooth, creamy filling with that unmistakable coffee flavour.

Next comes a delicate vanilla layer made from blended cashews and coconut milk. It is creamy, lightly sweet and balances the stronger coffee layer beautifully. Finally, a silky chocolate ganache brings everything together. Made with melted chocolate and coconut milk, it creates a rich topping that sets into a delicious chocolate layer.

Four layers, four textures and one seriously tempting treat!

🌰 A Chewy Almond, Oat & Date Base

The base is simple but full of flavour. Almonds provide richness and texture, while oats help give the bars structure. Dates bring natural sweetness and stickiness, helping everything hold together without needing to bake. A food processor does most of the work. Simply blend the ingredients until the mixture clumps together, then press it firmly into a lined tin.

πŸ’ͺ Creamy Coffee Protein Layer

This is the layer that gives these bars their signature tiramisu character.

Cashews are wonderful in no-bake desserts because, once soaked and blended, they become remarkably smooth and creamy. Coconut milk helps create a luscious consistency, while coffee provides that deep, aromatic flavour.

Adding protein powder makes the coffee layer more satisfying and gives the bars an extra protein boost. Vanilla protein powder works particularly well because it complements both the coffee and the chocolate. Choose a protein powder you enjoy the taste of, as different varieties can affect the sweetness and thickness of the filling.

🀍 Smooth Vanilla Cashew Layer

The vanilla layer adds a gentle sweetness that balances the coffee filling.

Soaked cashews and coconut milk blend into a creamy mixture, while vanilla extract brings warmth and that classic dessert-like flavour. The secret to a silky result is patience. Blend the cashews thoroughly, scraping down the sides of your food processor or blender as needed. If the mixture is too thick to blend, add a little more coconut milk, a teaspoon at a time. For the neatest layers, spread the vanilla mixture evenly over the coffee layer before chilling.

🍫 Rich Chocolate Ganache

No tiramisu-inspired dessert would be complete without chocolate!

This simple ganache combines melted chocolate with coconut milk to create a glossy topping that complements the coffee and vanilla beautifully. Dark chocolate gives the bars a deeper, less-sweet finish, while a milder chocolate creates a sweeter dessert-style topping. Choose according to your preference. Allow the ganache to cool slightly before spreading it over the vanilla layer, then return the tin to the freezer to set.

🧊 Tips for Perfect Four-Layer Bars

These bars are easy to make, but allowing time for each layer to firm up makes all the difference. Press the base firmly into your lined tin and smooth each filling layer before adding the next. Chill or briefly freeze between layers if the mixture is particularly soft.

For the cleanest slices, let the bars firm up completely, then leave them at room temperature for a few minutes before cutting with a sharp knife. Store the bars in the refrigerator for a softer texture or in the freezer for a firmer, icebox-style treat.

πŸ’š The Blended Bites Approach

At Blended Bites, our philosophy is Addition Eating – adding nourishing ingredients rather than focusing on restriction.

These Tiramisu Protein Bars bring together nuts, oats, dates, cashews and protein powder while keeping the wonderful flavours that make tiramisu so irresistible. Enjoy one with your afternoon coffee, serve a small square after dinner or keep a batch in the freezer for when a chocolate-and-coffee craving strikes. They are rich, creamy and satisfying, with four beautiful layers that make them feel extra special.

Because healthy treats should never mean missing out on dessert. Sometimes, they mean enjoying tiramisu in an entirely new way! β˜•πŸ«

Ingredients

Layer 1: Almond, Oat & Date Base

  • 1 cup raw almonds
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup soft, pitted dates
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1-2 tablespoons water, if needed

Layer 2: Coffee Protein Filling

  • 1 cup raw cashews, soaked for 2–4 hours and drained
  • 1/3 cup full-fat coconut milk
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • 2 teaspoons instant espresso powder, dissolved in 1 tablespoon hot water
  • 1-2 tablespoons maple syrup, to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Layer 3: Vanilla Cashew Filling

  • 1 cup raw cashews, soaked for 2–4 hours and drained
  • 1/3 cup full-fat coconut milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1-2 tablespoons maple syrup, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon melted coconut oil, optional, for a firmer set

Layer 4: Chocolate Ganache Topping

  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
  • 1/3 cup full-fat coconut milk

Instructions

  • Line a square 8 x 8 inch tin with baking paper. Add the almonds and oats to a food processor and pulse until finely chopped. Add the dates and salt, then process until the mixture begins to clump together. If it seems too dry, add water a little at a time.
Press the mixture firmly and evenly into the base of the tin. Place in the freezer while you prepare the next layer.

Coffee Protein Filling Layer

  • Add the soaked, drained cashews, coconut milk, dissolved espresso, protein powder, maple syrup, vanilla and salt to a high-speed blender. Blend until completely smooth, scraping down the sides as needed.
Spread the coffee filling evenly over the base. Place the tin in the freezer for 20–30 minutes, or until the surface is firm enough to support the next layer.

Vanilla Cashew Filling Β Layer

  • Blend the soaked, drained cashews with the coconut milk, vanilla and maple syrup until smooth and creamy. Add the melted coconut oil, if using, and blend again.
Spread gently over the coffee layer. Smooth the surface with a spatula and return the tin to the freezer while you make the ganache.

Chocolate Ganache Topping

  • Gently heat the coconut milk until hot but not boiling. Add the chopped chocolate and leave for 2 minutes, then stir until glossy and smooth. If needed, warm briefly over low heat while stirring.
Allow the ganache to cool until slightly thickened but still pourable. Spread it over the vanilla layer.
Freeze for 3–4 hours, or until all four layers are firm. Lift the slab from the tin and let it stand at room temperature for 5–10 minutes before slicing into 10 bars with a sharp knife.
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days, or freeze for up to 2 months. If frozen solid, allow the bars to soften slightly before serving.
    Blended Bites TipsπŸ’‘
Soak the cashews: This helps them blend into a smooth, creamy filling. Drain well before using.
Choose your protein powder carefully: Different powders absorb liquid differently. If the coffee filling is too thick to blend, add a little coconut milk.
For a classic tiramisu finish: Dust the ganache lightly with cocoa powder just before serving.
For neat layers: Let each layer firm up before adding the next. The ganache should be cool enough not to melt the vanilla filling.Β Β
