Instructions
Prepare the ingredients. Wash the fresh blueberries if using them. Peel and finely grate the ginger.Blend. Add the blueberries, ginger, lemonjuice, coconut milk, apple cider vinegar and ¼ cup of cold water to a blender.Blend until smooth.Adjust the consistency. Add more water ifyou prefer a thinner shot. Taste and add a little honey or maple syrup if you'dlike extra sweetness.Strain if desired. Pour the mixturethrough a fine-mesh sieve into a jug, pressing gently with a spoon to extractthe liquid. For more fibre and a thicker texture, leave it unstrained.Add optional protein. If using proteinpowder, blend it into the drink until smooth. You may need extra water toachieve your preferred consistency. For the smoothest texture, you can skipstraining after adding the protein powder.Serve. Divide between four small glassesand enjoy immediately.Tips and VariationsMake it more gingery: Add extra ginger alittle at a time.Use frozen berries: These work perfectly and help chill the drink.Make it sweeter: Blend in a small piece of apple or add a little honey.Prefer a creamier shot? Add another tablespoon of coconut milk.Want more fibre? Skip straining and enjoythe whole blended mixture.Keep the vinegar modest: A teaspoon provides tang without making the drink overly sharp.Storage: Refrigerate promptly in a clean, sealed container at 4°C or colder and consume within 24 hours. Shake or stir before serving.Note: If you have reflux, a sensitive stomach or dental enamel concerns, the ginger, lemon and vinegar may be irritating. Reduce the acidic ingredients or leave out the vinegar if needed.
